Hey guys-I'm looking at the 910 D2 driver. I had tried out the demo on our range and I knew that I was outdriving myself by a good 20+ yds. I have the tm 09 burner and dislike the distance and feel. I have a swing speed of 85+ mph and use a regular flex for the driver I have now. Should I use this one or the 910D3? My average drive is 230.

    andy,

you need to try both of them out.

my stats are very similar to yours, but when i was getting fitted, i couldn't hit the 910d2 worth a damn.  the fitter thought maybe the bigger head was throwing me off so he got me in a d3 with the rip60 r shaft.  it was night and day.  even though the d3 is more of a players driver, i could hit that more solid than i ever could with the d2.  for me, it was definitely the *smaller* head size that gave me more confidence. and for me, even the mishits with the d3 still had a pretty tight shot dispersion.  but your mileage may vary...

just remember, the d2 head is a higher launch, higher spin head vs. the d3.

of course, the right head/shaft combo is paramount, but don't forget about the look at setup.  if the club doesn't look good behind the ball, then you may not hit it as well.  hope this helps.

Andy, Go hit both and the key is be 100% honest with yourself. I am a 3 handicap and have both with the same shaft. people that tel you that the D2 is higher spin than D3 talk stories. in my view, the D2 is a great club that will give you more distance than the D3 with your SS. to gain distance you need ball flight and carry, this you will get with higher launch angle and a bid more spin. this will allow you to play a shaft with a slightly firmer tip that will give you a more penetration flight. these things work in combinations. many tour pro's play D2. with your handicap you want to hit fairways and get good distance. there is no need for shaping balls all over the place. if you pick the wrong club you will be shaping shots in directions you dont want. If you hit consistant drives in the fairway you will soon start to play lower scores.
