  1. So I have only played other Irons all my life (Eye 2, ISI and I-3 Blade).  I am a 4 handicap working towards being scratch again and the Titleist organization has impressed me so much the past couple of years that I am considering switching for the first time in my life to a Titleist Iron Set.  I am covered with woods, hyrids, Vokey Wedges as well as with my Cameron Putters however I am not certain for a 5-9 iron set what Titleist Iron Model(s) to consider....any thoughts would be appreciated...

I guess at the end of the day hitting them is helpful however I was curious what you think would be a great starting point?

    Chris,

After playing those irons for years, I would assume you will love the AP2s.  They had a similar sole widths, top-lines, offsets, and allow for a better player like yourself to still work the ball.  The AP2 have tungsten inserts which play similar to the thermoplastic insert you can find in the I-3.  All three iron models you played, gave you great amounts of work ability, which is what you will get out of either the 712 AP2, CB, or MB iron sets.

After playing those three sets,  I would be curious to hear what you thought of each iron model and how they compared.

  3. Would a combination of 2 of those choices be worth considering? If so, which go naturally together? Thx!

I just ordered the 712 AP2's a couple days ago. I have been a diehard Ping fan for over 20 years, most recently gaming the S56's. Titleist impressed me so much with the 910 Driver, Three Wood and Hybrids that I thought I would add Titleist Irons to my bag. Can't wait to get them.
  5. Chris, think you are making a good decision, I am not currently playing Titleist irons but purly because I have played Mizuno all my life. I have tested the Titleist and they are great> I use Titleist Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood and have the Hybrids 19 and 21. I play of 2/3 and have always Trusted Titleist. My personal pic would be the 710 CB or the new 712 CB. The AP2 is used by a lot of tour players and also perform well with more forgiveness than the CB or MB. I have a set of Mizuno MP 63 that compare to the 712 CB as well as a set of Mizuno MP 68 that compare to the 710 MB. We are fortunate to play golf 12 months of the year, I use the MP63 in winter when we get more rain and cold weather but prefer the Mp 68 MB. all the best with the selection, ensure you get custom fitted. last thing, the ball flight on the AP2 is higher than the CB and MB.

    Chris,

We sell the irons individually, so you can definitely do a combo set with whatever make up you would like.  Many players have mix and matched CB and MB, AP1 and AP2, and even AP2 and either MB or CB.  You just need to find out which irons you like and which irons give you the best feel, consistency, and workability.
