  1. I was on EBAY looking at the AP2 712s. There is an online retailer "The Shaft Store" that is advertising "Build Your Own Custom Titleist Set" for $1099 (consistent with what Golfsmith charges for the AP2 712s) where you choose the shaft and grip and they deliver a set "Custom Made for You By Titleist."

However, on the Titleist website under "Counterfiet Clubs" Titleist says:

"...Authorized Titleist accounts are not permitted to sell new Titleist products on Internet auction websites. When you make purchases in these unauthorized locations, there is a much greater chance that the products offered are counterfeit." Has anyone heard of "The Shaft Store" and can comment on whether or not it's a legitimate operation. I'd like to avoid getting fakes.

  2. For that kind of money, I wouldn't take the chance. Especially if Titleist is specifically telling you to stay away from Internet auction sites. Buy from an authorized dealer to save you from headaches in the future.

The Shaft Store is not an authorized Titleist retailer.

If they are not authorized...where do they get their merchandise. And why hasn't Titlest shut them down?

A good friend of mine bought a set of AP2'S from this retailer and almost every grip on his irons was grossly crooked.. David
