  1. Hey Guys, thinking about revamping my wedges, and I really wanna go with the new SM4's.  Gonna add a hybrid, so I have to change my wedge setup from 48,52,56,60 to 48,54,60.  I tend to get a little steep (although I'm trying to get a little flatter), so I know I want at least a mid-bounce 54.  My question is this: is the M grind that comes on the 54.11 still effective on full shots from the fairway?  Or is it primarily good around the greens?  I use the 60 on nearly all pitches and bunker shots, so the 54 would be used almost entirely from about 110 to 90 or so.  Should I go with a full sole for full fairway shots, or is the M grind just as effective and more versatile?  Thanks so much, Dennis.

I have the Spin-Milled c-c 54-11 that I bent to 55-12 and it is (more or less) my all around short game club. I'm not one to do full golf shots with my 54 and 62 unless absolutely necessary (I'll hir a pitch with my 9 iron or a choke 50 full shot instead of a full shot with the 54 or a pitch with 50 or 54 instead of full shot with 62); less work that way. I used to carry the Spin-Milled 64-07 and it had 7* effective bounce but I used it primarily for short bunker shots and grassy lie shots to a tight pin. For Titleist - what grind is on the sole. The specs say the SM4 54-11 has 11* effective bounce. That means maybe the leading edge may have 15* bounce (Titleist???). This wedge would work great in soft sand and grassy lies but you may have to deloft a little on fairway shots. If your intent is only full swing shots then the 54-08 may be a better choice. You can bend it to 55 and have 9* bounce (which works on long bunker shots in soft sand). My experience with composite grind soles is the Cleveland CG15 DSG 58 and 64 and the Vokey Spin-Milled 64-07. The only issue I had was hitting off tight lies so I switched to a 60-07; however, its shortcoming was hitting high bunker shots in soft sand. I replaced the 60-07 and 64-07 with a 62-07 (which has a full sole but with a wide flange) and it works well in all short range conditions. Have you ever thought about getting a 50-08 and replacing the 48 and the 52 with it? I didn't like the 48 because it was a bit long for me as far as wedges are concerned. I bent my 50 to 51. I love this wedge to death (also my 9 iron has a 45* loft).
