Im looking to get a new driver this year. I need to raise my ball flight with out raising spin rate. Current drive is a 9.5 983k with Nv 65 shaft. None of the stock shafts are working for me. I'm going to have to go to a custom shaft. Just looking for a starting point. Higher loft head with low launch shaft, or high launch lower loft? Thanks, Todd

Sounds like you have been trying the 913's at a retailer.  The 913 D3 will put less spin on the ball than your 983.  If you can find an Advanced Fitting Center or some one else in your area that is an excellent fitter at an outdoor facility and a shot monitor, go there.  That person should try loft, D2, D3, and any number of combinations of shafts.  If anyone wants to fit you in 20 minutes, then they would be incredibly lucky or certainly not diligent.  A good fitter at a pro shop can also work with the local Titleist rep to try some of the more exotic shafts available.  My local big box store will only fit me with what is in their bag.

I developed ballooning with a 910D2 10.5 with an Ilana by Titleist R flex when it was set to 11.25 degrees.  Moving back to 9.75 didn't resolve it.  Started with my 10.5 we went through Bassara W stiff flex, S+ reg flex, S+ stiff flex and were heading to a Rip Phenom.  Got the spin down, but it was heavier than I wanted.  Ended up with S+ Stiff with a 9.5 set to 10.25 913 D2.  Point of the story, with adjustable heads and all the real deal shafts, a fitter can only guess on a starting point and not everyone will be going down in loft just to try to reduce spin.  There is a magic combination and the closer you get to a Regional Center, the more options the fitter will have.
