  1. Hello team Titleist! I need some advice..

I am currently using a set of the 695CB irons that i have had since they came out.. I'm a 6 handicap and I play anywhere from 2-6 times a week in the summer. I am debating about getting a new set of irons, but I still like the look and feel of the 695's. Would it be worth getting a new set? I know technology has changed significantly since 2006(when the 695's were released), but am i am going to shave strokes with, lets say, the new AP2's? (those are the irons i have my eye on)

any help would be much appreciated

    thank you.

  2. Chris,

I have the 712 CBs, and absolutely love them. From the look to the feel to the sound of a pure strike I can't think of a better club, except a new model!

Whether you go to the 714 CBs or AP2s, Titleist constantly improves on its new models. I think the best way is to find a fitter and really try out new Titleist irons.

    Best,

    John

I'm of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" school but...

There are some earlier models that are actually BETTER than some of the new stuff out there.

My current iron/wedge setup is AP1 8-9 iron and SM4 wedges (48-06 and 54-11 1* strong and 58-06 and 64-07 stock). The AP1s are 2008 models and work just fine. I have a pretty vicious short game.

I've had the same driver (TM 2007 Burner HT draw) and putter (7H) for 3 1/2 years now.  I put the driver alongside  3 10.5* R11 neutral drivers and smoked all 3 at a demo day.

I also kicked myself in the butt for trading away a 2007 Burner 7 wood and Sumo2 SQ 7-34 in 2012. The Sumo has been back in my bag for over a year now and I went back to the 7W about 9 months ago (I seldom miss with either club and I can literally snap a chalk line with the 7 wood because it is so straight).  I played a 910F 19* for a year and a half (got it rather cheap) and it was great for par 3s between 175-190 yards (the 175 shot was a choke down) but I struggled to hit it off the fairway. I can hit the 7W off some of the worst fairways in San Diego County; granted, it is a 10 yard loss vs the 910F.

MY two cents is to try the AP2 7 iron alongside your 695 iron before making the $1000 plunge for a set of irons.

  4. Well, I used to have 2007 TM Burner D and 3W before I made the switch to all Titleist. But when I was fitted and had my swing weight changed to D4 (standard) with all the new clubs I bought, I realized the REAX Superfast Steel shafts hurt more than help. I also realized that the heads on those TM clubs were also light compared to newer models. (This, of course, can only speak to my game and perspective)

Chris, I wouldn't go back in time if I were you. The clubs that work for Lou may not work for you. Try and get to a place where you can test your clubs against anything you have your eye on, as Lou said.
