I purchased a used set of 712 AP2s 4-9 irons from my local Roger Dunn. They came with DG TI S400 1/2 inch long ordered directly from Titleist and I like the swingweight but I play my irons at standard length. I had an extra set of DG TI X100s at standard length so I put those in but the swingweight came out much lighter than I like. Are the irons assembled with lighter heads to offset the extra 1/2 length? With the S400s, swingweight as D4. With the X100s, swingweight came out to D0. I'm thinking of just putting the S400s back in exchanging them.

So my question would be in regards to the heads, are they just lighter b/c of the extra length?

No. I would check your club lengths and grip weight/layers of tape...

If the irons were ordered from Titleist at 1/2' long, Titleist most likely would have made sure the heads lightened to accommodate the extra length. Typically, there is an adjustment of 3 swing weights for every 1/2" of length adjustment.
