    Hello Titleist Faithful!

First off, a little back drop so you guys know here I am at. I currently play 704 cbs that i got used at a local shop and they are my first "real" irons. I have only been playing for the past 2 years and i am simply not where i need to be to be able to play cb's. I am well over due for new irons and i am kind of stuck between the AP1s and AP2s. I will probably be going with a set of 712s or 710s in either due to funds but i was hoping to get some insight on which one you guys would recommend. Any help is good help.

    Hi DJ,

We always suggest seeing a local Titleist fitter before making any decision.  With that said the 712 AP2 has a higher MOI and different sole design in the 7-PW Vs. the 710 AP2. The 712 AP1 has a thinner topline and smaller blade length than the previous 710 model.

    Hope this information helps.

    Take care,

    Bubba

    hi dj

seeing what you said only playing 2 years, I would recommend the ap1s they are more forgiving then ap2s and will probily

help you with mishits, I play ap2s witch are more of a blade type that are less forgiving on mishits ive been playing for over thirty

years and played many different clubs and find you should start out with something that fits you your wolet  and will make this very tough sport easier, I hope this will help you.

Personally, I only made the change to AP2s after purchasing a set of early models for $150 to see if I would like them before I made the plung into forged clubs.  I too would recommend you going with the AP1s unless you game is in the single digit handicap category.  The forged club is a feel game.   Again, go to a good fitter and see what he/she recommends.  They will know what is best for your game.  I am sixty eight and took up the game in 1985.  I like the clubs, but still have problems at times.....it takes time to get used to them........I purchased the new 714s in November with different shafts and the weather has not been cooperative this year.  Need more practice time......Had project X shafts and changed to XP 95 shafts which are lighter.....
