Hi, I am looking to get a new driver. I am left handed which kind of limits the market but am looking to upgrade from my old cally Diablo. Should I get it custom fit or off the shelf. Any sugestions??

Just grabbing stuff off the shelf is for cereal and occasionally ice cream...

You should get fit.  There's not just one driver for everybody.  Titleist is excellent with their fittings.  A friend of mine got fit and gained 35 yards just by switching from a 10.5 to a 9.5!!  Now he's averaging 270 yards!  Plus Titleist fits you into one of two heads, and one of several similar shafts!!!  You may be able to guess which head and what loft you need, but it's nearly impossible to guess which shaft you need.  Get fit, you won't regret it!

    Thanks,

    GM

Go to local golf shop and try a Titleist 913.  Always recommend getting fitted when purchasing a new club.   Think you will be happy with the Titleist line.  I went from Cally FTiQ, which was a very hot driver to a Titleist 910D3 and was very pleased with the distance and consistency of the Titleist.  Titleist hold their lines on drivers for two years before making any changes, cannot say that about Cally and TM.

Alex, go get fitted.  Find a local fitter that will have you swing a number of different manufactures, shafts and head size. Go into the fitting with an open mind. In the end you will have total confidence in the driver you end up purchasing.  I am sure once you have tried the Titleist 913 D series drivers you see just how solid of a driver they are.

The only restriction Titleist makes on LH golfers is the 7.5 degree driver is not an option - the 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, and 12 degree drivers are available.  If you go to the web site for shaft options, the options are mind-spinning.  My experience with off the rack options for LH is only one or 2 lofts, and one or 2 shaft options.  But even then, you don't have the option of the same shaft in 2 flex options.  Even with just the stock options, it would be worth getting fit with a fitter with multiple heads and multiple flexes for the stock shafts.  I live close to an Advanced Fitting Center and the options available between there and a strict retail location, and watching the flight outdoors was worth the effort for me.  By buying the driver from the AFC, the fitting was N/C.

I recently upgraded this winter as well and I had the same question. I decided to get custom fit using a trackman system. It was the best decision i've ever made when it comes to golf! I was able to find a shaft that produced the optimal numbers for me which has improved my game tremendously! I would HIGHLY recommend getting custom fitted for a driver, it will optimize distance, accuracy and confidence on the tee!

    Goodluck,

    Gavin

Glad we could help.  Let us know how the fitting went, what Titleist driver you ended up with and how it improved you game.  Anyhow we hope it is a Titleist.  :-)
