I really want to get a 712U. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

  2. i use 712u for my 2 iron which is the replacement of utility club. I use ns pro 950 s and i love it. probably the softest iron i ever had and also the easiest iron in my bag.

I also have a 712U 2 iron with a Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shaft in my bag which replaced my hybrid.  I find hitting long irons easier than hybrids and this club is easier to hit than my 712 AP2 3 iron.  I can launch it low or high off the tee or the fairway with ease.

    Cheers,

I made the mistake of hitting one out of a demo bag, now I want to get one too. It is much heavier than a regular iron so I can feel the head location much easier helping to get nice pure ball contact. I had no idea that these were hollow which make them feel soft with a hot face. It launches so much higher than my normal long iron. So easy to hit, it feels like cheating.

I purchased 714CB's and read that the long irons were little help to most... so i went with a 3 &4 iron 712U.  I am so happy with my decision.  The yardages are what my 3 and 4 should be, and very versatile.   They are deadly off a tee for those long par 3's. off the turf i have never hit my longs irons as high....NOT TO MENTION THEY LOOK GREAT!

I personally enjoy having the club in the bag as a driving iron. I have always had difficulties with the hybrid clubs & fairway woods off the deck. I ordered a 712U 2 iron with a kbs tour shaft in it and I absolutely love it off the tee on short par 4's. I also use it off the deck when I'm looking for a lower flight into the wind when laying up on long par 5's. I have to be swinging really well to hit this club off the deck and onto the green from 220-225. For me it's not as easy to elevate as a hybrid, however I feel I have more accuracy & control, I also like the idea that it is a standard length 2 iron.

I have the Ap2 714 4-pw, so I went with the 712U 3 iron, same xp95 shaft in all my irons.  I love the 712U, great off the tee, easy to hit off the ground, nice penetrating flight.  I cannot stand hybrids, so this is perfect for me.  My miss with a hybrid was all over the place, if I miss hit the 712U its a line drive, very playable, and the feel is fantastic.

I have one on order and can't wait to get it.  I play KBS Tour stiff flex shafts in my irons and ordered it with KBS Tour 90 gram shaft in stiff flex set to D4.  I had a fitting on Saturday and I am not a big fan of hybrids off the tee and was afraid that a driving iron would be to hard.  I was certainly wrong, I was hitting it long and straight with the 712U and I am excited to get it and put it in play.  With the right shaft and some practice it could be a great club for you.
