  1. Hey y'all

Ive been playing golf for about 7 years now and am 22.  My game has greatly improved from when I started playing for my high school team til now. Ive gone from shooting 100 +/- and have gotten my game to high 70's to low 80's. I have absolutely no idea what that means in terms of handicap either because I am not that into golf I just enjoy playing. I played hockey my whole life and when I picked up a golf club it was natural so I began playing a lot more. I have been playing swoosh Victory Red irons for at least the 5 years now and as my game has improved I have wondered if I should be playing a better set of clubs. I have been doing a lot of research on clubs and the AP2 irons are highly respected and after trying them a few times at a golf shop near me I believe all the hype. The things I have been reading about them is how good they are to work the ball with. The reason I am hesitant on buying these is because I do not play that type of game and try to hit my targets with the straightest shot possible. I am able to hit a fade or draw with my irons but not confidently and accurately and if I hit more that 3 shots like that a month I would consider that a lot for me. I am really looking into buying the best set for me and I really would like to buy forged irons such as the AP2's but I'm not sure if I truly need them. I think new irons can help me out a lot, especially because my irons have regular flex shafts and I need stiff, but I dont know if I need to spend the money on the AP2s if the AP1's will help me just as much based on my playing style. If anyone has any advice for me on this it would be greatly appreciated since I am not very unfamiliar with golf clubs and what is good.

    Hi Brian,

The 714 AP2s would be a great option for you if you are looking for a forgiving forged iron.  Yes you can work the ball with these easier than the 714 AP1, but this isn't necessarily something you need to do once you start playing those irons.  If consistency in terms of ball striking and distance control are issues, then you may want to consider going with the 714 AP1.  The best advice I could give you would be to visit your local Club Fitter.  They will be able to not only find the Titleist iron that will best suit your game, but will also find the right shaft weight and flex to promote a better ball flight.

Use the link below to find the nearest Club Fitter.
