I love my oil can PW and raw black LW wedges well broken-in and weathered.  However, my SW is chrome and when that wears out I replace it immediately.  I guess my answer is it-depends.

Wedges will wear out faster than any other club, so be careful with used.  But with that said, there are some great deals out there for barely used wedges.  I picked up 3 SM4s for less than the cost of one SM5, and you couldn't tell they had been even hit.  Kep your options open, but keep in mind a used wedge will need to be replaced sooner.

I like a little bit of wear on my wedges and irons. It shows me that they can handle the abuse that I am going to put on them. My lob wedge has this one particular battle scar on the sweet spot. It was from my first full round of 18 holes, my third round of golf ever. It was a short par four but I had managed to pull my approach shot into a 5 foot deep green side bunker. It wasn't the softest sand and there were plenty of pebbles. I opened up my lob wedge and accelerated through the shot. The ball landed soft and took the hard left-to right-break, rolling 8 feet down the super fast green, stopping just inches away for a tap in par save.

Now, whenever I look down at my wedge at address, that scar reminds me to commit to the shot and accelerate through without fear.

I agree with you all...wedges do wear fast and I hit them aggressively and hard! I love the spin but the visual aspect gives me the green light to go at it with the wedge. New wedges are just so nice and well..new, and I feel like I have to baby it.  A nice broken in wedge hit a few times says to me...go ahead give me your best shot! I just love the feeling of confidence this Titleist stuff gives you!!!
