I have pro shop credit that I need to spend in the next month, and have decided to replace my 910H 19* with the Made for Titleist ilima stiff.  Before switching to that shaft, I had the MFT kai'li, but it wasn't a good match for my swing.  I do have a 913H 24* with the Diamana Blue S+ Blue 82 HY stiff flex, and I'm pleased with the setup.

I wish I had the luxury of a proper fitting, but I'm going to have to make an educated guess as to the shaft.  Looking at the stiff shaft options for the 915H, would the S+ Blue 70 Hybrid or the M+ Red 60 offer similar performance to the MFT ilima?

    Thanks,

    George

The 'ilima is Mid-High Launch shaft with 3.3 torque

The S+ Blue 70 is Mid Launch shaft with 3.8 torque

The M+ Red 60 is High Launch shaft with 4.0 torque

They're different in their shaft profiles, I recommend that you seek an advance fitter in your area and try it to compare. The 915 H head is much more different that the previous models. Your numbers on the launch monitor may indicate that you may change lofts or sure-fit setting.  I would think too much about which shaft to focus on but rather what do the numbers show and what you want to achieve.

If you are not able to be fit, I would say to read up on the shaft specs and get something similar to what you're comfortable with.   You may even elect to take the from your current gamer and attach it the new 915.

Nothing beats getting fit. I am playing a 909H 19 degree with UST Mamiya AxviCore 85 Series Black Stiff and was fitted for 915 H 21 degree with Aldila Rogue Black.  So, it goes to show that its not always what you have in mind but when its the numbers; the proof is in the pudding.

CB - As always, another fantastic post!

George - I completely echo the comments from CB. Different head models can perform differently with the same shaft. Ultimately you want the correct launch and spin conditions to make the hybrid an effective club in your bag. I would be happy to help find a fitting location that works for you if you can find the time.

    Best,

    Will

Good post and great advices. Only thing I believe he won't be able to do is to use his old shaft in the new 915 since the surefit adapter from the 910 won't work on the 915.

Francesco you are correct. The 910 Hybrid shaft will not fit the 915 head.

    Thank you

You make a very valid point. My apologies...I do not know for sure if the adapters are compatible across the 915 line. It is to my belief that the 915 Driver sure-fit will work with 910/913 and the Fairways and Hybrids are different. However, if you love a shaft that much; pull it and reshaft. Its magic!

On the flip side, I would definitely recommend other shaft options as shaft technology is ever evolving. Better technologies allow for a better shaft making process with premium materials providing us golfers with advance tools.

I know one thing for sure...Titleist brings all of that to us in a nice little package called The 915. Cheers!

And thinking that I just wanted to upgrade my irons next year and not the woods... now this nice little package called 915 will defintely force me to at least upgrade the driver... LoL

You have way too many options to guess. Just to complicate it, there is also a M+ 70 with 3.4 torque and a Rip Phenom 65 at 3.9. Not sure how much store credit, but getting the wrong shaft would be 100% waste. If the shop would agree to write the ticket then let you get a fitting and pick a std charge shaft, you could place your final order after paying for the fitting. It would still be a lot cheaper than buying a second shaft next spring. I'm going back for a fitting at an AFC for a driver, and will at least be paying for a new shaft. That's my price for letting a retail sports shop talk me into a floor model based on hitting into the net.

Getting fitted properly is worth your time and effort.  Don't buy one off the rack?  Too many choices with the 915s....
