Just wondering if anyone here plays an AP1/AP2 combo set and, if so, how far down you go with the AP1s.  I started with all AP2s but I'm now gaming 3 - 5 AP1s.  I'm not bothered by the larger profile as much as I thought I would be and they really are more forgiving.

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for the question. While it is all player dependent, one thing to keep in mind is the difference in lofts. The AP1 is 2 degrees stronger than the AP2's from the 7i - PW. Make sure this does not negatively effect your gapping in the wedges. Also, because of the difference in lofts, make sure there is not a significant gap between your last AP1 and first AP2.

Just some things to think about. Seeing a local fitter will certainly help answer these questions.

    Keep us up to date.

    Hi Bubba,

Thanks for the advice.  I've actually been ordering the AP1s from the factory with the same shaft and bent to the same lofts as my AP2s.

Well, Zach Johnson makes out pretty well carrying an AP1 4 iron along with his AP2 5-9 irons.

I'd considered going with the AP1's for a 3 and 4 iron, but finally learned how to hit my 913H hybrids.

I play ap1 4-6 and ap2 7-p.  Also I was fitted at Oceanside for ap1 with x100 shafts but didn't feel comfortable with that set up so I got fitted by local Titleist fitter and he suggested the combo set with s300 shaft.
