I did the same thing: went from the 910 to the 915. Ver yhappy I did. I'm not getting the same ball speed as you (154.1) but that's good for me. The number of stock shafts with no upcharge was great, and I found one that fit me perfectly!

I'm thinking of moving from a 910 to 915 but, with a swing speed of 90mph, am not clear if there will be much of a distance gain (obv. I would have a customer fit although, when I did this for my 910 clubs, everything was more or less 'regular'). Does anyone have any thoughts ?

Ian,
I may have been unfair to the 915 in my previous post. Background: I'm 66 and have a 90 driver swing speed and average drive is 225. I play the 9.5 degree driver set at A1. In recent comparisons between the 910 D3 and 915 D3, I moved the loft up one notch to 10.25, D4 setting. With this comparison, I'm 5-10 yards longer with the 915. Don't see any real difference in accuracy/dispersion. Still feel I can work the ball easier with the 910, but this could be I am more comfortable with a club I have been playing for the past 2 years. Still don't like the sound of the 915. Just my thoughts. Would like to hear others experience.

You know, I also moved from the 910D3 to the 915D2 because I wanted a little more forgiveness. A new club is always a work in progress and the weather is not been favorable since I bought the new driver. I am 68 and our club head speeds are similar. Mine is about 93. I can hit both of those drivers 250 plus. When my game is on, I know I can do better with the 915. I just need to get used to the new club. It is a different shaft as well. I went from a Diamana 72 on the 910D3 to an Aldila Rogue 70 (both stiff) 915D2 and I realize it will be an adjustment period for me. But the it will be worth the effort with the accuracy and increase in distance. I just have to be committed to the shot and not try to overswing. Did not play very well yesterday, in comparing drives to one of my playing partners who is ten years younger and plays the 913D2 and crushes the ball, on one hold yesterday I connected really good and hit it by him by at least ten yards on a par four hitting a sand wedge into the green. My loft also is set at 10.25. As Bubba, stated I think my numbers are dialed in. Just need to work on the consistency.

I also upgraded from the 910D3 to the 915 D3 and love it.
i've gained an extra 15 to 20 yards easily with my drives!

I just received my new, fitted, 915D3. Hitting the demo, it seemed a little more workable and I achieved a higher launch angle than my 910D2. I do like the sound! Is there any consensus on the best loft and lie adjustment?
Steve,
Thanks for contributing to the discussion - would you not have been advised at your fitting the best launch/lie angle for your swing?
What I'm most interested in - and part of my original question - is what data Titleist have they can share for swing speeds of around 90mph. I completely understand there are many, many variables but that is the same for any swing/swing speed.
Titleist are claiming distance gains over the 913 but all the examples I have read about are at much higher swing speeds than 90 mph. They simply must have carried out huge numbers of tests at all swing speeds with different shafts, angles of attack, smash factor, (etc, etc, etc) - but I suspect these factors may become less critical at lower swing speeds.
Can anyone at Titleist share some data?
Thanks,
Ian

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the post.
The higher launch with lower spin of the new 915's helps maximize distance for all ball speeds. When individuals have swing speeds of 90 MPH (ball speed of about 135), higher launch is imperative to increasing carry distance. In that ball speed range, individuals should be looking for a launch around 12 - 14 while maintaining a spin rate in the mid - 2000's.
Hope this helps.
Bubba
Hey Bubba: That sounds like the numbers on my fitting: low 90s, 133, 2000-2500.....

Sounds like you were dialed in, Chuck!
Spent an hour with David Ayres in Mt Pleasant, SC. One of TT recommended fitters. Have known him for many years. Has a great reputation as a fitter and a great guy as well. Value his judgment. He dialed me in and took care of me after Billy (one of your guys in this area) fitted me for the 915h 18* at at demo day......Aldila Rogues for the D2 and the h.....just need to fine tune the swing......if you know what I mean.....

Thanks so much for this info Bubba. It gives me an idea as to where I should be. My swing speed is 83-85 so should these numbers go up slightly for a slower s/s than 90mph?
Hi Norris,
Once you start getting into swing speeds below 90 MPH (Ball speed 135), there is diminishing return on a higher launch. The key for these ball speeds is to be in a range of 12 - 14 launch with an ideal spin.
And remember, while there is an ideal range for optimizing distance, sometimes a players swing makes these numbers unattainable. The important thing is to optimize the launch conditions for your swing.
Bubba:
That is a very good point! I am a low 80's swing speed senior. During my fitting I was encouraged to get higher launch and spin. But I believe that it hurt my distance. I took the 915D3 to the range and experimented with the settings. I set my old 910D2 at A1, but moved the 915D3 to a higher loft. It looked good, but was not getting good distance. I ended up at a D3 setting with my old 910D2 shaft, the Diamana 'ilima 61 R, which I always seem to go back to. I played with it yesterday, and although I had to guard against "ducking" it, I was ultimately able to achieve a reasonable launch angle, with a little draw, and great distance! Even in the wet. Does Titleist now offer a comparable premium shaft to the 'ilima?
Thanks Steve
Norris:
Yes, my new 915D3 is a 10.5 at A1, as well. I played today (beautiful day in San Diego!) at a D3 setting with my old 910D2 shaft, the Diamana 'ilima 61 R.
I was blown away! I had maybe the best launch angles and draw shapes and distances that I've had in years. I am sold that the new 915D3 performed better for me than either my 910D2 or my 913D2.
Thank you Titleist!

I think it really depends on how you work the ball. I favor the right side of fairways with fades so I don't move much off the A1 setting.

I would strongly recommend trying the new M+, the red board. My SS is at 100 or so and I launch the ball on a fairly low trajectory. I was planning to get the S+ (Blue). But my fitter recommended I try the M+. I would've never considered it because I assumed it would spin too much. But I tried it and it's a great shaft. I didn't purchase the first time because I wanted to make sure I was buying the right thing. So I went back and went through all of them again. I hit the Rogue Black too. The M+, for me, was simply by far the best fit. The spin rates were better on it than they were on the BB and the launch, while higher than the other two, was not too high. I'm launching it at 13 and the spin is right around 2500, which I think is pretty ideal. More importantly, my club head speed is around 103 with the M+ and my ball speed was up. And even more important than that my dispersion was better. I still can't believe it, but it's undeniable. I hit the red board higher with less spin, farther, and straighter than any of the others. It won't fit everyone. But if you swing less than 100mph and you aren't a high launch player, I would at least hit it. I think you'll be surprised. It's an awesome combo. I bought 915D2 9.5* with M+ 50 Stiff. If you swing around 90 I would try the regular. I tried the regular and the stiff and even at 100mph I was able to hit the regular and get good numbers and hit it very straight.
