  1. I am buying a new set of clubs and considering Titleist but I'm confused which model is best for my game. I am a club player on 20 handicap, over 65 with a slow swing speed. I would welcome extra distance - who wouldn't- but rely on straight shots on the fairway. I would use Graphite for added speed. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Yeah, we seniors do slow down a bit, don't we? I am sixty eight (9 handicap) and went to a fitter to determine if I needed graphite or steel and he said that I needed to stay with steel. I think anytime someone is considering the investment of a new set of clubs, their first step is to see a certified fitter. They can look at your clubhead speed and all the variables that it takes to set you up with the right set of clubs. You are wasting your money by just buying them off the shelf. He fitted me with XP95 S300 shafts and 714 AP2s which I love, but that is for me. I had not played forged clubs before and these clubs are sweet. These clubs are probably NOT what you are looking for. My clubhead speed is 93mph and I had not idea what is was until I went for a fitting. To get good reliable advise go see a certified fitter and it will save you money in the long run and you will enjoy the game more. Titleist makes clubs that will fit all handicappers and for us guys with a lot of experience. Cheers. Chuck

Trevor J, Chuck Z is correct with his advice about a fitter. Also I would advise you to try the AP1's. I am very pleased with mine.                                                                                                         steve b

Don't necessarily default to graphite shafts...good steel shafts may benefit you...a COMPETENT club fitter will get you in the right direction.

Additionally, don't tell him what you want or what you are looking for in advance....let your natural, relaxed swings do the talking and decide what club and shaft you need!

Try the ap1 (go to a fitter to find the correct shaft for you and put that same shaft in your wadges to

    Trevor,

About a year ago I was in the same dilemma as you.  I was getting back into the game after years of putting the kids through college.  If it wasn't for listening to Team Titleist members advice I would be lost.

I waited almost 3 months until I could get a fitting by a Titleist fitter.  It was worth the wait.  I am 60 years old and settled for the AP-1s.  I am standard height and weight,   I love my clubs, it fits me well, and I know its all on me.  Although I still don't have enough rounds, lucky if 1 or 2 month (because I'm still working). I do hit the range once or twice a week just to try and keep the tempo and swing.  I couldn't be happier with my Titleist equipment.

See a Titleist fitter, especially if you're getting back into the game.  The equipment and mentality of the game has changed and there is so much forgiveness in mishits its unreal.  You'll be shooting good scores for sure.

Good Luck, see a Titleist certified fitter.  The blog was help me, help me, help me.

Great suggestions. Don't forget though you can order combo sets as well. AP1 567 AP2 89W with a few hybrids thrown in.

You might need new friends as the ones you have now will be upset at all the money you will take from them. ;)
