I currently play 714 CB and I hit the ball quite well with them. Fairly consistent, sometimes I don't get the perfect contact but I think that's expected of any golfer regardless of ability.

When I got fitted for my current CBs I tried all the other irons on offer and the CBs came out the best. I do like the look of them, the compact feel and look at address and I like the narrow sole.

I have seen the new CB 716 line and really like the look, do I upgrade to the new 716 or stay faithful to my current 714 CBs which I've had for about 6 months.

Would I gain a significant performance advantage to justify investing in a new set of irons. My current handicap is 10 and falling rapidly due to spending some quality time on the range and on my short game. Any suggestions from fellow Titleist fans would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you've only had about 6 months with them, I'd say hang on to them another 6 months, at least.  The 716s -are- an improvement, especially from 6 iron up to the 3, but maybe not enough of an improvement to bail on your current set just yet.

Got the exact same situation. Got 714 CBs at start of season and played well with plenty of rounds in the mid 70's. Put my hands on the AP2 and AP1 and will probably get AP2 at start of next season. Live in Wisconsin so that means next May. Have only had fist generation AP2 and many CB versions. Love the look and feel of 716 AP2 and can't help but feel the amount of tungsten and forgiveness will help me get to next level. Probably will add 716MB 2 iron (currently use 735CB off the tee a lot) to the set. Hope this helps.
  4. I hear the term "don't fix what isn't broken" a lot. If there isn't a drastic change that will make your golf game significantly better I would stick with them until maybe until they get worn out. If they don't, I would wait till' the 718's come out!
