Hey TT, just wondering if the soles of the new 716 CB's are made of the same material as the 714 CB's (1025 carbon steel) or the same material as the 714 AP2's (I think its stainless steel). With the new CB's now having tungsten in them I'm curious if they'll be capped with the more ding resistant metal like the AP2's, or if they'll be ding prone like my 710 CB's haha. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Rene,  The level of "ding resistance" of the new 716 CB irons will be the same as the 714 CB irons. Both the AP2's and the CB's are 1025 carbon steel.

Yes you are correct that both the AP2 and CB are made of the 1025 carbon steel, but I believe the soles of the AP2 are a different material. I own a set of 710 CB's and a set of 712 AP2's and the faces of my AP2's show a lot more wear due to playing them exclusively for the past 4 years. The soles of the AP2's however have minor scratching but don't have any dings compared to the 710 CB's. I think the CB is 100% 1025 carbon steel while the AP2's hosel and face are 1025 carbon steel but the cap that is over the the tungsten weights which make up the sole of the club are a different harder material (perhaps stainless steel).
