I am on my way out the door to the local Titleist retailer. I eagerly want to check out the new 816 hybrids. Leaning toward the H2. I would love to hear comments and feedback from anyone already playing them. Or any input on 816 performance vs the 915s. Thanks.

    How did it go?

I'm curious as well as to the performance differences of the 915H vs the 816H1.

I would like to know how close they are in how they play.

    Cheers,

    Dr. K

I have both.  I purchased the 816H1 (19*) and it plays nice and straight and much higher that the 915H2 (18*).  I bought the 915 with the Black Rogue Stiff Shaft and the 816 with the FujiKura Motore 8.8 Tour Shaft based on the recommendation of the Titleist fitter.  Do like the new shaft.  I am playing both clubs in my bag and loving them equally.  The 915 at 17.25* and the 816 at 20*.  I do wish that Titleist would make both of them a lower loft like a 17* or even a 15*.   They are close but the 816 gives you a nice high flight and sets nicely when it lands.

Thanks Chuck. I am leaning toward the 816H1, 21* for the high flight, soft landing (of course with the proper shaft). Unfortunately the closest Titleist dealer had no 816s to check out. So I'll be off again. There are a fair amount of Titileist dealers within 20 or so miles of me, so sooner or later I'll get it done. Looking for Mid-High flight, I was thinking about the RIP Phenom Hybrid 80, Fubuki AX h400, or Tour Blue 85 HYB in Regular Flex. Any comments from anyone on those choices (I know, I'll let the fitter tell me; just appreciate feedback).

And are you playing the Motore in stiff?

[/quote] Yes, I play the stiff.  At going on 70 years of age I can still swing a stiff shaft according to my fitter with a clubhead speed of 93 mph.  I bought the 816H1 19* and am playing it a 20* and you can set it at 21*.  This would give you options.  The 816*s give you the option of a 1 degree versus the old half degree.  Even at 19* it has a nice high soft flight.  It is a sweet club.  P:  The Rogue and Motore work well for my clubhead speed.  Chuck...........

I had the H1 and thought it was the best Titleist hybrid yet. The color took a bit to get used to, just because it was different than in the past. GREAT feel and the ball comes off hot and fast. I don't thing you'd be disappointed with it. I went with the H1 because I thought it looked more forgiving than the H2.

Late last season I started using an 816H2 19* that replaced an old 585H.  I personally love the color and found the 816 to be easy to hit both off the tee as well as fairway/rough - and long.

I never thought I would hit a hybrid as I gave always hit my long irons pretty well.  When I got fitted for my new CB irons my pops handed me an 816 to "see how I hit it".  I now have an 816 h2 19* in my bag. Lol. I liked the ball flight of the h2 over the h1 and that's why I went that route. my H2 and my 910 3wd are my game savers, believe it or not, when I hit less than stellar drives.

I had the 915H 18* hybrid and switched to the new 816 H2. As I tend to play them closer to an iron than wood. I picked up the 816 H2 19* w/ Speeder 8.8 stiff and it is really easy to play, very impressed. On the standard A1 setting it gives me a nice mid trajectory with soft landing (for my swing), on windy days I would probably play it on the lower setting. I never regretted the switch and the speeder shaft feels phenomenal!
