Hi! Im Cameron, I'm an 11 handicap at the moment ,and I'm 14 year old. I was wondering which iron would better suit me. Please leave a reply below and we can chat!
Thanks!

With an 11 handicap which is excellent for your age, well done, i'd say the AP2 will be more suited to you as you obviously strike the ball well to get to that handicap. The AP1 has a very thick top line, it's more of a game improvement iron to give a person confidence, the AP2 is more of a players iron but it still has forgiveness but it's not as thick to look at on the top line and looks great at address.
Chris MGrindelwald,
Suggest to try the AP2
In order to get a real reply, I would suggest to meet a fitting center where a pro can get you the right clubs!

I've seen more juniors using CBs than AP2s around here like 5 to 1

It really depends on how well you strike the ball with your irons. There are plenty of players with a single digits handicap that are very poor ball strikers.
Like the others have suggested, go get fit by a certified fitter and go with what feels right to you. You should also think about getting a combo set (3-5 AP1 and 6-PW AP2). If it's good enough for the pros...
And if anyone tells you the AP1s are not workable, don't believe them. It's rubbish.

MB or CB. These will help you become a better ballstriker.
Hi Travis, thank you for your reply! But as I am not a fantastic ballstriker, I don't think these would suit me very well. Even looking at the best players in the world, still use forgiving irons.

Hi Cameron,
Wow, an 11-handicap at 14, that's great! Have you had a chance to try any of the 716 irons? You should go and try all of them and see which one you like at address and how you hit them. I'm sure you aren't looking for distance, since you are an 11-handicap, but something that can help you get to the next level. Which could be a club that helps you shape the ball more and still provide some forgiveness.
What are your goals? What are you looking to get out of your irons (or clubs)? Heck, I might even say try a combo sent of MBs and AP2s or even MB and T-MBs.
Let us know what you like and get after you try them out and get fitted.

Thank you for your reply Sam! Let's chat since you gave me what seemed like the best response! So for me right now as an 11 handicap, I drive it pretty well off the tee, not far, but fairly accurate. My short game is good, my putting is ok. I don't strike my irons as good as I would like to on a consistent basis, but I am also undergoing a grip change, as well as a swing change, which is actually helping my striking of the ball better. But for me at the moment, I don't hit a ton of greens, and my misses are usually on the toe, and low. Thank you for the response, I hope we can chat again.. :)

Hi Cameron, It sounds like you are already working on all the right things to bring your game to the next level! Choosing your irons is an important step and an expensive proposition. After chatting with Sam, we'd recommnd working with a good clubfitter to help you dial in your choices. One of the best club fitters in your area is at the Breakers - his name is John Webster and his phone number is: 561- 659-8474. Let him know you are a junior and that you are looking to get fit for irons. Like Sam said, I would recommend trying them all, including the T_MB's, which John will have as well.

Definitely get fitted. I always felt I was a good ball striker and generally played less forgiving irons. A few years ago I picked up a set of irons that were more towards the game improvement side. I really only bought them because of an unreal price, but I was shocked how much I liked them. I feel like I rarely mishit a shot with them. So I guess what I'm saying, get fitted and DO NOT let ego get in the way. Play what is best for your game. I would have been a much better junior player if I had taken that advice.

As TDOGG21 said, don't let ego get in the way. You need to get fitted for what is right for you and what you want to accomplish. I think ego plays a big role in everything and so many guys (especially, sorry to say it), are stuck on hitting an S-flex shaft because the pros do. No one looks at your clubs when you are playing as we are all playing our own game. You will have the last laugh when you are hitting more fairways, greens and making more putts with the right equipment.
But you are an 11-handicap and you feel that you aren't as a consistent ball striker? WOW!! I can't wait to hear about what your handicap will be when you are striking the ball better. :) You mentioned that you are going through some changes, so of course things will be out of whack for a bit until those changes become routine. Your misses are on the toe and low, so this could be caused by your grip change or swing changes and then you will be striking it in the sweet spot soon.
As I said before, get out there and try them all and you will be surprised how ALL of the clubs are easy to hit, but you will need to find the one that fits your eye and what you want to do. I like a combo set, since my lower irons are more for attacking the green and my longer irons are more for approaching and I need a bit more forgiveness. I'm not the longest hitter out there and I have come to learn that about my game, so I need to get my wedges and short irons dialed in more. While I use my mid to long irons to get my into place to score better.
Schedule a time to get properly fitted, but even before your fitting, I would suggest to find a local course that has the Titleist demo bags, where you can essentially take out a whole set of Titleist clubs on the course and try them out. Yeah, the specs might not be for you, so don't worry about the score, but it gives you a chance to TEST out the clubs in a real situation where you are on the course.
Let us know how your fitting goes and also what you end up liking after you test them out.

[/quote] Yeah, an 11 handicapper is a pretty good striker of the ball. About 95% of all amateur golfers never break a 100. An 11 handicap would shoot in the mid 80s. Very respectable.

You should definitely get fitted. Just a few months ago I went for an extensive fitting with the intent of getting 716 AP1s, after warming up and hitting a few balls with the AP1s the fitter wanted me to try a few other clubs one of them was the 716 AP2s. Although I was a few yards shorter (can be chalked up to the different lofts) I was hitting the AP2 much more consistent and with a much better ball flight, all my numbers on the launch monitor were better with the AP2s. They are in my bag, so go and get fit but keep an open mind about head and shaft selection.
