I was fitted prior to retail release and have had my 716 AP2s for a while now, probably have 15 rounds already no issues with the paint coming off at all.  Titleist Customer service is the best in the industry I am sure they will take care of it.

Do you happen to practice on matts?  I do Monday thru Thursday and they are murder on the numbers.

Sorry to hear that Mike.  I know first hand how you feel.  I had the same thing happen with a new set of miz MP-59's four years ago.  I didn't seem longer than a month had past and the paint on the "P" of the wedge was gone.  Upon inquiry I was told that it can happen and miz wouldn't replace it.  I've played a the full 2015 season with my 714 AP2's and they still look perfect. Hopefully Titleist can help you out.

    Regards,

I have 712 AP1s, and noticed the same thing.  Most of the paint is off my short irons now and rarely hit off mats to practice.  Titleist customer service will take care of you.  I posted the same thing a couple of years ago and they immediately offered to refill the paint.

Full disclosure, I opted not for them to do it.  I just didn't want to be without my clubs.  In the end, it wasn't a really big deal to me.  If you want to do it, while I can't find the article, a TT member showed how to do it yourself.  Basically, it involves acetone to remove the paint, clean them REALLY well, let dry, and then with a toothpick, painstakingly repaint the numbers.  You can also custom fill that way.

    +1 Keith M post.

Yup just wash/clean the heads, and dry with a towel. The easiest way to do is get some acrylic paint dip a toothpick in it and apply it over the the number on the sole. Don't worry about keeping it in the stamped number or letter at all.

i usually just cut paper towel into like small folded over squares, and dip into a cap full of acetone and rub it over the paint. All the paint that was not inside the stamp will wipe away leaving the paint in the stamp. Might take a few paper towel squares to get all excess paint. If say it's a 6 or 9 after removing all most all the excess paint you can use a Q-tip dipped in acetone to get into tight crevasses of say a 6 or 9. You can then repeat a second coat if you feel it needs it. Acrylic paint seems to work the best. I've been doing this to my iron sets and a putters for the last bunch of years and found that the thicker the acrylic paint the better it works. I've tried the cheaper style acrylic and the more pricey Tester's paint also. The cheaper brand where the paint is "thicker" worked the best

Honestly waiting for the paint to dry is the longest part of the process. Also doing it yourself you won't have to be without your iron or irons for days, or a week or so.

Sharpie makes a fine point oil base paint marker that works real well.  A number of guys in this area have used those with success.  I have those in a number of colors and have had great success.  You can pick them up at local hobby and craft shops.

Chuck Z, thanks for your reply to this post. I've always used model paint with a fine brush to refurbish my club numbers but bought to Shapie, fine tip, oil base marker and it works incredibly well.
  9. Thanks guys for your replies think ill give Titleist customer service a call.

I'm going to try Chuck's suggestion. The AP2's I bought in June had the paint coming off the 8 iron by the end of July. I don't like how it looks, but it's not a big enough deal that I want to go to the trouble of sending it to Titleist.

I've been using the sharpie oil markers for 2 years. They work great and are really easy. I can change my clubs at will. Here is my latest. They still need some touch up and maybe another coat.
