  1. Guys really need some help here. I am currently playing a really old set of Titleist 990's. I am looking to get more distance then what I'm getting out of my old clubs and I'm sure updating to a set of the 716's will do it. Everything I read says the ap2 should give more distance and more forgiveness then the CB, but I've hit both at dicks and have come to find I'm catching the sweet spot more on the CB and my longest shot was with the CB. And maybe it's me but when I caught the ap2 right the bounce off the face felt hollow compared to the bounce off the CB. I also like CB cause the smaller face at address and seems like it would cut through the turf better. What do I do? Will the ap2 eventually give more yards then the CB?

As far as pure distance is concerned, the same loft and same shaft in the two irons you mentioned yielded only 1-2 yards of carry difference between the two irons and a moderate difference in trajectory for me. I'm curious as to what you mean by eventually? If you're hitting the CB more consistently, I'd just trust it and go that route. The AP2's aren't going to get longer with age lol. If you like the look of the smaller head then pull the trigger.

Go with what you like best as far as setup, feel, and performance. But definitely get with a certified fitter and have them make sure you are getting the proper specs on your new set. I've played the AP2s from 2008-2012 then played the 712 MBs until just a few months ago, I just switched to the 716 CB and I have to say it is probably the best club I've ever hit.

    Good Luck

  4. Went past Saturday and got the CB's should be in next week also got the new staff stand bag. Had the irons minus a degree due to my high ball flight, thought it was interesting the degree difference in my new clubs between my old 990's should gain a whole club difference off that alone. Now it's the decision between the sm5 or sm6 wedges.
