I was curious if anyone knew the difference between the AP2 and the MBs when it comes to distance? I know the comparison is normally CB vs MB or CB vs AP2 and I can't find anything between the AP1 and MB (716s).

Has anyone hit these side by side? What difference did you notice assuming you had same variables (shaft, flex, etc) for the clubs?

I have a very high ball flight with my MBs which results in my shots getting hammered in the Texas wind. I'm considering a switch...my thought is that if AP2 and MB both launch higher in the wind, I might as well get some extra distance out of my shots from an AP2.

For me personally, the AP2 launched higher for me. I believe the lofts could be 1* or so stronger. I play the MB but had to switch my shaft to Ctaper to keep the flight lower.

    Hi Max,

The MB irons have a loft difference of about 1-2 degrees between them and the AP2s. Now for AP1s, I don't believe you will be able to find a comparison mainly because they are suited for opposite types of players. MB is for a very skilled golfer who strikes it well and likes to shape shots. The AP1's are more of a GI iron, which have stronger lofts, and they generally aren't as workable as the MB's. If you are hitting the MB's high, you can always have your lofts changed to decrease spin, which will knock your ball flight down. You can always also go to a lower launching / stiffer shaft if necessary. Although I am 14, I play in South Florida where it is quite windy in the winter, so I understand your problem with the height. If you need anymore help, I'd go to your nearest fitting center and talk to the fitters there.

    Thanks! :) - Cameron

    Hi Max,

That's interesting, as most people would hit the MB's lower than the AP2s. MBs should have the lowest launch for any of the Titleist irons. What shafts are you using in your irons? Have you seen a Titleist fitter to see what your launch angles are and if there is a head/shaft combo that could help your high launch?

I have hit all, MBs, CBs and AP2s side by side with the same shaft and flex and the AP2s launched the highest for me. Even when I hit them all "pure" I was at least 1-2 yards longer with the AP2s. It was the misses that were the big telling point, as I lost a lot of distance on mis-hits from the MBs and CBs, but that's how the MBs and CBs are designed, more for feel and workability, than forgiveness and distance.

Let us know what you end up finding out and what you get.
