  1. Can anyone offer some advice and information on which shaft to get for my soon to be purchased new driver. Prefer a stiff flex but not too heavy ( or too stiff) l want the D3 for the lower ball flight. How do the standard shafts perform ? Anyone had good results from any up grades? Thanks Keith

Everyone has a different swing and the shaft I use may, or may not, work for you. So my best advice is to get fit by a certified Titleist fitter. It's the only true way to know you are getting the correct head/shaft combo for your swing.
  3. I agree with Barry....no question about it!

The beauty of Titleist is having all good options. Chris92009 and I are on different planets when it comes to skill, but we have each been satisfied with what we ended up with. I wouldn't even assume that D3 is the best solution w/o working through multiple lofts, heads, and shafts. Titleist is now supplying actual front line shafts. In my case, I did better upgrading a 913 D2 with a Speeder shaft than with the S+ stock shaft on a 915. Buying off the rack is no savings if you get the wrong loft or need to go back for a custom shaft.

I definitely agree on getting fit, but if you are looking at one of the stock shafts, I would say the Mitsubishi Diamana S+ Blue in a stiff flex sounds like it may be what you're looking for.

But once again if you have the time get fit for the proper shaft, it will make a difference in the performance of the club for you.

  6. In the D3 I played the low launching Diamana D+ Whiteboard 70 stiff. But as has already been mentioned, people have different swings and shafts may match better to one than another. Here is the custom option book that has some nice charts and info on the various shafts. This might be a good starting point, if you haven't already looked at this:

Barry nailed it. Try as many different shafts as you can.

Titleist is currently doing demo days on Thursdays. Check them out to see if they will be in your area and go by and check out both heads. I used to play a D3 and switched to a D2 because I like the consistency and accuracy of the D2. The D3 has smaller head is designed for the golfer who likes work the ball more, but with the D2 I can still draw the ball when I need to. Straight is better. Titleist offers a great line of stock shafts and should meet your needs. Go see the pro, the Titleist fitter and he will set you up with exactly what you need. It only takes about 45 minutes when you set an appointment and it is free. I met with the one in my area last week and my new irons are being built the coming week. Cheers, Chuck
  9. Go to a fitter and try them. Drivers are 400$ but the shaft alone is 250$ or more. The shaft is the most important piece of the club and feel is important. I swing 110 MPh and I went with a stiff shaft and a 50g one because I didn't like the low launch heavier shafts. Go test them out

Agree with the previous posts, get fitted. I decided this morning I wanted to upgrade my 913. Was a D2- 10.5 with x-stiff Fujikura tour spec 671. Used for 3 years. Hit balls for an hour. Several shafts, d2 and d3 heads. Numbers and distance ended on D3 9.5 Stiff Rogue Silver. Played this evening and couldn't be happier. Go get fitted !!!!
