  1. Been playing the Titleist 712 MB's since i got them new. The last 2 months I've seen a significant loss in distance on some clubs, that cannot be accounted for by the weather. Has anyone seen loft/lie changes in forged blades over a period of time? Getting them checked today btw

Yep...but only if you do a lot of hitting off the mats at the range...when I played mb's I was surprised how much they could be off over time. So are you seeing just some clubs off or is it a wholesale loss of distance through the whole set? If it's some and not others I would guess range mats. If it's through the whole set it might be that it's just been a lot of rounds of golf. I think most of the PGA superstores can check you lefts for you...but I would be leery of letting them adjust them...and would rather send them in to Titleist for that sort of thing.
  3. I rarely ever hit off of a mat. I play a lot of golf. the loss of distance starts around the 8 iron and continues down through my wedges. 8 iron was a guaranteed 165 yards, been about 150 (if that), 9 iron I'm losing about 10 yards, pitching wedge is only getting about 120! also i live in South Carolina so our "cold weather" is still about 60 degrees out, there has to be a 1-3 maybe even 4 degree loft change in some of those clubs. i will know more when i pick them back up

Had a set of Hogan Medallions many years ago that needed resetting yearly,it was a well known requirement then compared to cast clubs.

Does anyone know what titleist would charge to have a set of 716 cb's bent one or two degrees strong? Also what is the turnaround time? If titleist bends them will they leave any marks on the club? I have had several sets bent locally but every time after they are bent there are always marks left behind. Would like to avoid that if at all possible.
  6. not sure about the turnaround time. there won't be any marks as far as i know. however, not sure how you feel about it, but your clubs, if they're bent strong they will most likely have a bit of an offset to them

My rule of thumb for forged irons has been this: If you play 1 - 3 rounds a week and practice/warm up with the same frequency, then you should get your lies and lofts checked twice a year. I usually do it in late April and in mid October. To ensure consistency, you should have the same person do the work each time using the same lie & loft machine. This practice plus new grips once a year will remove these equipment variables so you can focus on your swing and know the exact distance you carry each club.
  8. I just received my set of 716 cb's from titleist bent 2 degrees flat and 1 degree strong and have no marks at all....as for offset, no big difference. Hope this helps....

I have had my irons adjusted twice now in 5 years, the lofts had been off by as much as 2 degrees. I just had them checked again two days ago and they are off again, they are cast clubs and I'm afraid to do it again because they might crack? I have not hit off a mat "EVER" but I do play alot of golf, I have no idea what the solution to this problem is???????
