  1. Hey Team! I recently posted a discussion about older titleist drivers. As a follow up I was wondering if some of you would share your knowledge about the different shafts that you use. I plan on being fit for a driver, however I will be fit and then matched with an older model due to my budget parameters. What shafts / brands would you recommend for me to look for when I'm hunting through used clubs. I swing around 110-112mph. I know it's a very open question but I don't want to loose a diamond in the rough. (If there's a pun in there let's call it intended.) Thanks as always for your advice. All of your posts have been extremely helpful and I look forward to reading more of them.

When I get fitted, I am normally getting fitted for a shaft and head combination and how they perform and buy that combination. Will the fitter have what you are looking for?
  3. Hi Chuck, Thank you for the post. I think that the fitter will have a large selection but since I'm buying a used club or older model I was just looking to see if there is a brand that everyone prefers with their Titleist drivers. I know that Diamana is the shaft that is typically associated with a lot of the Titleist drivers but I was wondering if there were any other brands that I should look out for while searching the used racks. Thanks again for the reply!

I have Aldila shafts in my Driver, fairway, and one of my hybrids. Also have a Fujikura in one of my hybrids and I really like them. All of these are stock with Titleist new heads. Have played the Diamana shafts in my older models (910 and 913) and they performed well. Personally, I prefer the D2 because it is a more forgiving head. All depends on swing speed, launch and ball speed. Hopefully you will find something at your fitting.

See what they have from the soon gone past group there, 915 D3 D2, or even 913's. Fine clubs, that you may find retailers trying to get rid of that the took in on trade or left over. Since you're on a budget, you can still get a fine club from Titleist that will serve you well, and can still mix and match shafts based on what they have there, and the fitter will be able to work with your swing.
