It's a complex question MB. The short answer is yes. And this is if you can maintain the same clubhead speed with the added weight. As weight goes up the tendency is for the golfer's swing to slow down. There are other factors to look at like the shaft flex you are trying out, and what is the spin rate being reported for your swing. Loft adjustment is also a factor that will also influence carry. Are you working with a trained fitter familiar with performance metrics on Trackman?

Not 100% sure but I think the fastest most controlled club speed you can generate with the most appropriate shaft (stiffness, torque, flight, spin rate, carry etc) from a fitting are the key factors for distance not head weight. Hitting it on the acrewsbwould also help. But again I'm no pro here just my understanding.

In general the added weight which if everything else stayed the same you would lose carry distance

Why do you want to add weight? The lightest shaft that you can control wil give you the highest swing speed and the most distance

I am a PhD scientist (and a golfer) and I know something about physics. Could you explain why a golfer would lose carry distance as your statement is inconsistent with Newtonian laws of motion. All other variables being the same, increasing clubhead weight (mass) will increase distance. The increase in distance will not be linear as once the ball is in the air you have the complexities of aerodynamics, drag forces, ball dimple patterns to deal with and it becomes a rather complex problem to solve.
