    I recently purchased a 716 AP1 iron set with XP90 S300 shafts. Since the set didnt come with a 3 iron, my brother let me have his. The only differnece is that if has a regular flex graphite shaft. I was tempted to switch out the shaft but I played a round with it and it feels different than stiff but ball flight and distance seem to still be there. What's the real difference between regular and stiff if they both seeminly give me similar results? (Club head speed is about 101-105)

    One shaft stiff may be another regular, it differs from manufacturers. If you are getting the flight and distance, and like the feel, I would leave it alone. Just my $.02.

    The regular flex graphite should launch higher for you (depending on shaft), possibly a little more dispersion vs steel? I believe the lofts are stronger in the AP1 716 irons and doubt there is any real carry difference in distance between the 3 iron and AP1 4 iron. You may want to consider the 816 H1 19* hybrid in lieu of 3 iron, I went with the AP2 4-P and carry the H1 19* for distance gapping between my 4 iron & 3 wood, it worked out perfectly.
