I would like to know what you all think about ap2s as to ap1s I play to 14 hcp on a semi private retirement course here in Vegas. I so love the feel and look of these at address but I also know that the ap1 are more forgiving and then we get into the ok these are more forgiving and we're here to enjoy not work harder at golf but I have compared at my swing speed with two yards in distance with both seven irons with r flex x90'shafts I also tried Graf in ap1didnt really get a feel for them.so have any of you guys put yourself in this problem? I may be kidding myself but I so love the feel of the ap2s and yes older golfer for sure thanks guys in any case (have did titleist fitting and both guys said I could hit both well for my age and ability.

I am not and haven't been in that situation. Id recon if you got fit rhe AP1s would suit you better. My $0.02 simply based off what you provided.

Harry: I turned 70 in September was playing 714AP2 XP95 S300 and did not feel that I was getting the yardage I needed from those clubs. The max I could hit my 7 iron was 140 yards and that was a real gap and I did not need to purchase another hybrid. I went to see Bill Forbes, Titleist Fitter at Titleist Thursday and within five minutes he found my problem. Wrong club, wrong shaft, wrong setup. He put me in the new 716AP1 XP105 S300 and had me consistently hitting the ball in excess of 150 yards and in some instances over 160 yards. The golf teaching pro who had fitted me previously at a brick and motor store had fitted me for 2 degrees up and I in actuality I needed to be at 2 degrees down. The difference in the person who is fitting you. Bottom line is my clubs are now gapped properly Driver to wedge and I have been fitted for all my clubs by Titleist certified fitters. The AP2s, which are forged do have a nice feel, but so do the 716AP1s. They line up nicely, but must of all they hit the ball nicely and that extra yard is there, and at my age, it is appreciated. To know I can still hit a 7 iron 150 yards is a good feeling at the age of 70. My handicap floats between a 10 and a 12. Going in for a tune up on Thursday. Tournament season starts within a few months. Once you go for your fitting, you will know what is right. =)

Logic probably says AP1's for forgiveness, but is golf logical? You love the look and feel... shouldn't you love the feel? Doesn't that instill confidence? Doesn't confidence lead to better golf? Enjoy yourself.

I'm about the same handicap as you and owned 712AP1s and then went to 714AP2s. I love the AP2s! They are not harder to hit in my opinion, but they are different like any set of irons. I recommend you go with the 2s

I had the 712AP1s and then went to 714AP2s because I liked the look better. I'm about same handicap as you. They are not harder to hit in my opinion and I would not go back. They are different like any iron set change. You really feel where the ball hits the face. I recommend the 2s
