  1. So about a week ago I saw on eBay a brand new set of 716AP2's for a great price. I mentioned it to my wife and I was surprised that she didn't look very pleased at the idea. She responded by reminding me that I had bought clubs online before and, except for wedges, it hadn't really worked out for me. I agreed and decided to drop the subject.......but she kept talking. She said the only way I was getting new irons was if I had a complete fitting to make sure that my next set would help take my game to the next level. When I told her that would cost quite a bit more.....she stared me down. So I guess I lost this argument - and I'm going to suck it up and get properly fitted.

My wife is an avid golfer and works really hard on her game. I couldn't have hoped for a better partner. Thanks honey.

You really need to thank your lucky star. Besides your better half being right there are no bargains for clubs that don't fit you, there are only rare bargains on Titleist irons. A price too good to be true is just that. Many have paid the price for knockoffs..

It will be money well spent. I have been fit for my entire current bag it was one of the best things I've done for my game. Lower scores, fewer errant shots and more confidence.

You have a very smart wife and partner. A fitting is the only way to buy clubs. Money wasted otherwise. =)

  8. BHanner,
Sounds like your wife is a keeper. My wife also loves to golf with me. And when it comes to clubs she would agree with your wife. I got my first several sets on line and then didn't like the way the felt, so she agreed for me to get properly fit and it was very worth it.
I too saw a set of AP2s on eBay and thought about getting them, but during my fitting I just did not like the feel and the look at address.

    Good luck

Count your blessings BHanner. Your wife sounds like a keeper. I am also taking the plunge this year to the 716AP2's. Going from the first year AP2's which have lots of game left in them. Probably going down to Dad. I am seeing retail of $1599 plus taxes. But need to lengthen and pad the grips. So together we will be a little poorer but our game should be richer. Enjoy !!

I agree with her, get fitted. However, being that AP2's are forged, you can get them bent (usually $50 for fitting). Shafts on the other hand may be an issue if you don't play with the shafts that come on them already.
  11. Lucky guy! My wife tells me golf is her 'enemy ' lol...

Sounds like good advice to me. You take a risk buying clubs at a very low price. Can't be sure they are the real deal. Besides you should get fitted for those clubs. Don't want to have any doubt when swinging that club.

Yes, most can play a rack set and with athletic ability "learn" how to work them. Getting fit you don't have to "learn" how to work them so much. They should be fit to your build/swing.

I went to one of the courses I play at and a Titleist fitter had a tent set up with trackman and all the gadgets. It didnt cost me any extra. I ordered the irons that day and in two weeks I went to pick them up. I knew the club pro there but I don't think that made a difference. It was just prior to the release of the 716s
