    Titleist Concierge,

I have a concern with the paint chipping on the 917 series drivers & fairways. Both my D3 & fairway have chipped ... keep in mind I am very mindful of my equipment and the headcovers go on after every shot. Is there an issue with the paint this on this model? I never had any issues with the 915. Also, why did Titleist switch the headcover to the "leather" model? The 915 had the sock that would go further down the shaft to protect it even more down into the bag. Can I send these back for warranty inspection? I spend a lot of money on my equipment & I want them to look good for years to come. These pictures show you how they sit in the bag with the headcovers on. There is no possible way for the marks to be where they are. I even felt up inside the headcover for something that could mark it. You can see how the 915 sits in the bag with the added protection of the sock, while the 917 does not.

    Thanks for your help.

I second your comment on the headcovers. I know its the fad right now for the guys on tour but there should be a more protective option. Even the aftermarket headcovers for Titleist are only the leather ones. They've removed the knit ones they used to sell. Good thing I got mine before they took them away.

Hi Chris, I have forwarded your note and picture on the head covers to our Gear design team.
On the marks - they are unusual and the Warranty department would like you to take it to your local pro to have them set up a Warranty inspection.

I haven't had this problem yet thankfully. But the headcovers unfortunately don't protect my stock or aftermarket shafts like Tensei Pro White shaft (and 917 F3 shaft) from heavy rubbbing in my 10.5" staff bag.

It hasn't happened to me but I do many guys who've had marks like that from alignment sticks, and extra diver shafts in the bag sliding up into the current stlyle 917 headcovers and marking up driver and fairway heads. I love the new desgn of headcovers, and they look killer in the bag (my favorite style headcovers), but as far as rubbing and wearing away expensive shaft finishes/paint because of not having the sock neck, and alignment sticks and spare shafts sliding up and nicking the paint of the head it's hard to decide on keeping it or replacing it with a 915 headcover.

If the 917 could have a 915 sock sleeve.....it'd be a straight winner!!!! JMHO
  5. Do you have alignment sticks in your bag or an extra shaft in the bag? I made the mistake when I was figuring out between 2 shafts of which to play. While I was in the cart and the bouncing while driving caused the spare shaft to get under the head cover and chip the head of my driver. I have also head that alignment sticks can do the same thing. I was bummed when I saw the 3 chip marks and they were about the same spot as yours.

I'll second that motion! Sorry, But I doubt it's a paint defect!.....
