Iron shaft help/suggestions please?

    I'm really struggling to find a shaft I'm happy with for my new irons.

    I used to play the ZB forged (4-PW with PX 5.5 shafts) and loved them, however stupidly sold them a few years back - massive mistake I know!

    Since then, I've tried several different head/shaft combo's

    714 CB (4-7) & MB (8-PW) with PX 6.0 - felt were too stiff/unforgiving 714 AP2 with DG S300 - loved the head but felt the shaft was too heavy 716 CB with PX 5.5 - loved the feel/weight, but noticed how unforgiving they were compared to AP 716 AP2 with PX 5.5 - even though I've used & loved PX 5.5 previously, found these too heavy (assuming this is due to weight of head???)

    I've also demo' the S300 AMT, but think these are still too heavy!

    Is there a difference between weights of the heads e.g AP2, CB and MB?

    Have you tried the new Project X LZ (5.5) shafts? If you like the PX 5.5 shafts, I think you would love the LZ shafts even more. I tried them and love them!! I have played the PX, PX Flighted, PX PXI and now the LZ and the LZs are by far the best feeling.

    The PX LZ 5.5 is about 115 grams.

    In regards to your question about the weights of the heads, to be I think the MBs feel heavier than the AP2s for some reason. But when you get your clubs built, make sure they build them to the swing weight that you want.

    Check out niddon pro modus 3 tour 120. Amazing! Similar to the LZ 5.5 but better!

    Marc, I'm using the Dynalite Gold XP S300 on my AP2s(712). Much lighter and luv these. I had the best numbers with them on tracman. I'm 49yrs old, swing 104-106 Driver, I have a high ball flight. Hope that helps

    +1 on the C-Taper or C-Taper lite. They are like a Project X but with great feel.

    Not tried the LZ 5.5 yet, but will do as from what I've researched, they're slightly softer torque than standard PX

    I've tried the KBS Tour (120 gm), C-Taper Lite and XP 105 S300, but not with a Titleist head - only been able to try cally Apex/Pro or miz JPX Tour

    I have a fitting scheduled with a Titleist demo soon, so hopefully I can try some of your suggested shafts with my preferred head shape

    I had PX 5.5 in my Mizo irons back a few years ago, and when I ordered my AP2's spec'd them with KBS tour, 5.5, or R+ as they also called them. Wanted a little higher flight and loved the feel with the AP2's. Been happy ever since.

    Thanks Tom, I'm booked in for the Titleist Thursday and. KBS tour is on my list to try, so hopefully I can get something I find comfortable before the season really kicks in

    Marc, I get it, I recently move to the Ap2 714 irons from an iron I played for 7 years.
    I stayed with the same shaft Project X 5.5, I love the added height on shots but am struggling with 3/4 shots and half shots. Over all weight seems heavier, might look at lighter shaft something in the 110 gram if I cant get used to it...
