Can you really hit a 1 iron ? or are you just going to put it in your bag to impress your friends ?
  3. Nice. Just because you can't hit a one iron doesn't mean no one can. I have been carrying a one iron and using it for years. Try picking one up and going to the range. But if it is beyond your ability, then so be it.

If the pro's w/Titleist agree with Lee Trevino, it won't happen.

Lee Trevino told us to get a 6 wood back in the 1970s.

Hi Chase, The T-MB 2 iron is the lowest lofted iron we offer at 17°. Typical 1 irons usually ranged from 17° to 18°.

Was that the DCI 981 and 2001, the last year Titleist made a one iron? My my the lofts have changed over the years. The clubs have gotten stronger.

I like this thread... I hit a tmb 2 iron in a simulator a straight 248 yards and felt amazing...I thought "who needs a 3 wood or driver for that matter when these clubs exist?!" Then I hit my 2nd shot with it. It was so bad I thought I broke a finger. It was like hitting a rock in 5 degree weather. I immediately went home and hugged my hybrid.

I have a couple of 962 1-irons. I played 1-irons when I played college golf almost 60 years ago. As I got older I kept the 1-iron but ditched the 2 and 3 irons for a single hybrid. When my swing speed declined to 100mph on a good day, I switched to hybrids through the 4-iron. I play an AP3 5-iron and 718 AP2s to the PW. SM-7s complete the bag.

My 17* 818 H2, had it existed sixty years ago, would have put that Golfcraft 1-iron in the closet immediately.
  11. With the T-MB 2 iron loft at 17 degrees what would a present day 1 iron be? 14 degrees? And a muscle back at that. I can see why there’s not much demand for one irons these days. Maybe get a 2 iron, lengthen it and take a couple of degrees off the loft and have at it.

Always liked my long irons. In my younger days anyway. Always had a 1 iron. Loved it. Used it in place of a 5 or 3 wood off many many tees and off the fairway. Cathi is correct, and previous 1 irons were usually around 18 degrees, maybe some as low as 16. Tommy Armour several years back made a 0 iron. They called it "The Heater". Probably still have it somewhere. Remember too as clubs have changed and technology has become even more injected into all clubs, lofts have dramatically changed too. A friend is in the process of replacing his TM R7 irons. Comparing lofts to new clubs, his nine iron was 45 degrees. The new sets go as low as 39.

miz offered a one iron through sand wedge with their MP- 29 set decades ago. Ebay would be a place to start.
  14. I have 2 Wilson Staff tour blade 1 irons in my garage collection from my younger days. They were fun back in the day with the old balata balls. Left the tee at about a foot off the ground and the climbed up on a line! If you want them make me an offer.

I hope you find a 1 iron. I love that club...its just fun!
  16. I recently picked up an old 2 iron at play it again sports. Not only was it only five bucks but I hit the club great. I understand why you want the one iron in your bag. Good luck on your hunt to find one!
