  1. I'm sure this has been posted before and if anyone could provide a link I would appreciate it. Does anyone notice a major difference in the 716 ap2 gw and the 50 degree vokey? Right now I have a set of ap2's 4-gw with a 54 and 58 degree sm6 all custom fit with kbs tour shafts. I'm strongly considering ordering a 50 degree vokey with the matching shaft to replace my gw. It seems like I can get my vokeys to stop on the green much easier than my gw. Is this simply because of the loft or because vokeys have better control? From what I've read it seems to be the latter. Any help is appreciated thanks guys.

  2. I had a similar sort of problem and I swapped to the Vokey. No problem with stopping power now.
  3. Yeah well from my experience a vokey 50 degree is nice and good to have in my set I have the ap2 716 gap wedge which is a 50 degree as well just play whatever feels best and trust yourself.

I replaced my PW with a vokey 48 wedge - much better results with the full swing and the difference with chipping and short shots is off the chart.

For me the 50* Vokey was not as long as the AP2 AW. So I went to a 48* Vokey and the gap between my 54* SW and 60* LW and 48* GW and 45* PW are similar.

Some of the reason your 54* and 58* Vokey wedges hold the greens better than you 50* AP1 GW is the higher loft gives the ball a steeper impact angle so less roll out. But IMHO the main reasons are the proprietary grooves, spin milled faces and a superior CG design, not to mention the choice of mid or high bounce options. You can not go wrong replacing your GW and you might consider replacing your PW with a 46* Vokey like a lot of tour players.

The loft is the same. The versatility of the head I would say is the benefit, especially when you get fit. I would get the Vokey.

    I have 716 AP2s and a 50°, 54° & 58° SM6 setup. I never once thought about getting the AP2 GW! I'm actually debating if I want to switch out the PW.

Personally, I wouldn't mind Bob making a whole set of blades.......
