FYI to all. For the second time now I have left the headcover off my driver while riding in a cart. Normally I walk and put headcover on all the time but when I ride I have a tendency to take the headcover off my driver on the 1st hole and leave it off until the 18th hole. Each time I have done this, my driver ends up with "dinks" on the crown of the head. Little paint chips come off the driver head from banging around with the other clubs while I drive the cart. This happened on one driver head, I replaced the head and now its happened again. (I'm a slow learner I guess). So, as a cautionary tale to others, put your driver headcover back on after each use. I've never had this happen with TM of cally drivers, just Titleist.

Good advice and just one of the many reasons I prefer to walk. Have you tried getting them refinished?

Is there any way to reconfigure your club set-up of your bag? Can you place your uncovered driver in the top left and have other covered woods and hybrids surrounding the driver? Just a thought...

I gotta be honest, I do the same thing when riding in the cart by taking the head cover off the first hole and never putting it back on till 18.. The only covers i leave on are the 3 and 5 wood, hybrids and then i have 6 to Wedge... My driver head is clean as a whistle when i'm done and i've never noticed any "dinks" or scratches...

Sorry to hear this happens to you, maybe it's best to start leaving the head cover on... Better safe then sorry right?

Gary, I had this discussion with some friends the other day. Would be great to have a chip, scratch and smudge resistant surface on all the metals. But then again, the great head covers would be obsolete and they look great. Just takes a little more effort to put on the driver cover.

I know people hate them... but I also use iron covers. Keeps them from banging into your woods and keeps the noise down. I also like the fact it keeps dings off the sole of the irons.

I get lazy also and tend to keep them off, but I've been good and have been making the effort to put the cover back on.
  9. I have the Ogio Silencer bag and have not had any issues with dings or scratches. I always leave my wood covers in the cart.
