718 AP2 Users, What Degree Hybrid/s Did You Go With?

    What's up guys, and gals,

    1st off I know the correct answer of my question is to "get fit", heck I give that answer to most questions like this (because it's the right answer), but where I live it's just not possible.

    So with that out of the way I was curious what you AP2 users are using for 818 hybrid gaps? I'm playing 5 iron through 50*, and my current hybrids are the 915H 21* and 24* (set at C1 so 20.25*, 23.25*). What I would like to do is get the same exact setup but as you know there's no 24* (21* is set on what I want it's the next other head I'm not sure of).

    So just as your "suggestion", (to someone who prefers a flatter lie angle, and fade bias set up) what would you think would be the best route to go? Maybe a 23* in B1, and possibly the Surefit CG in fade, or 25* in C1 and possibly in fade Surefit CG? I'm leaning toward 25 in C1, because I don't like to add loft (closing the face address), but want to have enough gapping between 5 iron and the 25*.

    Anyways so in a hypothetical scenario....(I know getting fit on a LM is the correct way to go but I just don't have that option, or to even hit them within a 115 miles or more.) Going off what's been said what would you suggest?

    If your set on having a 21 degree 818 hybrid, some options might be:

    1) 718 AP2 4 iron (24 degrees)
    2) 718 T-MB 4 iron bent a degree weak
    3) 818 Hybrid (23 degree go with C-4 setting which would be .75 degree flatter and an overall of 23.75 degrees for loft)

    If you would consider a 19 degree 818 hybrid you could:

    1) 818 hybrid (23 degrees)
    2) 718 T-MB 4 iron (23 degrees)
    3) 718 AP2 4 iron bent 1 degree strong (23 degrees)

    Let us know what you end up with.

    Well I have played a 21* hybrid for about almost a decade but maybe a 19* might work. I have really no interest in playing a 4 TMB, or AP2 4. I used to always play 4-pw but the 4 hybrid has just been so much easier for me than a 4 iron. Plus we have a lot of longer par 3 where I live it comes into play and just the ease of hybrid takes some stress out of those shots

    But maybe the 19* is the way to go.

    Something I have been looking at since I started with my Titleist set of AP2 and my vokey wedges last fall. The Distance in between each club in my bag, in relation to how I hit them or what I can do with them. I have a 5-PW ap2 set and 4 vokey wedges. I have started with a 21* Hybrid as its 10 yds longer than my 5 iron, but I think I would benefit more if it was 20 or 19*, which would give me a better gap down to a 3 wood perhaps. I think you really have to look at your game and your playability with each of your clubs, to really hone in on what "tools" you can use, how well you can use them and how well they can benefit you in various situations and distances.

    I currently have 4-pw ap2 718. I added a 23 818 hybrid to complement this set and my 16.5 917 fairway. For me I can hit 4 and hybrid same distances if I wanted to but I get different trajectory which gives me more shot options, generally the hybrid flies the distance and the 4 has roll out to make the distance. I can if I step on them have 13 yard between the two, hybrid going the further of the two.

    You are right get fitted, I always do and finally have come up with what is right for me. I finally put away my fairway and use hybrids.

    917D2 (11.25*) 816h1 (16*) 816h1 (19) 913H (23.25*).

    I may loose a few yards using the 16* hybrid vs a 16 Fairway but the accuracy benefits me more and I am able to get out more troubled areas when the need arrises.

    Added note in the older hybrids, 910, 913, 915s the adjustment was .75 degree. When the released the newer model 816 the adjustments changed to a full degree. At the age of 71 accuracy and distance are equally important.....
