Driver 9.5°, 3 Wood 15°, 18° Hybrid, 21° Hybrid, 24° Hybrid, Irons 5 to PW, Vokey's 50°, 54°, 58° Putter = 15 Clubs. I Can't decide what to take out of the bag. I was thinking of taking out the 3 wood and setting the 18° Hybrid to 17.25° or set 3 Wood to 16.50 and take out 18° Hybrid. I do struggle with 3 Wood off the fairway hence reason for swapping it with the 18° set at 17.25°. I would be interested in your thoughts.

What I would recommend is setting both your 3 wood and 18-degree hybrid to the alternative lofts and playing a round with both. You will quickly find out which one will work best for you in both confidence hitting and desired and required distance.

Alternatively, some people would just play with 15 clubs...

I like your idea Richard. Based on previous discussions that I have seen, I agree with taking out the 3-wood or hybrid. Your wedges are your scoring clubs. You can definitely manipulate the gaps on the top end easier than the bottom in my opinion. Good luck

If you have better results with the hybrid I would take out the 3 wood or possible take out the 5 iron if its the same loft as your 24* hybrid! Just my 2 cents!!!

So much depends on how well you hit each of your clubs, and the conditions and requirements of the course(s) you play. If it were me, I would drop the 24 hybrid, set the 21 to 22* and probably be good. But, I hit my 3W quite well from the fairway. If you have no confidence over your 3W, maybe removing it and re-tuning your 18* stronger might make sense, as is your original thought. No matter what, I would not give up any of my wedges if I were you.

My opinion drop the 5 iron. Your 24 hybrid is more versatile and you probably hit them about the same distance anyway.

All great suggestions. If you can get access to a Flight Scope/Trackman (a Titleist Thursday would be an option) then go through the clubs through your 5I. Likely there will be a spot where you don't get close to 15 yards of gaps. I have a 23H and a 21 7W that proved to only be 4-5 yards. Took out the 7W, dialed a 18F to 19.5 and added a 16.5F (still only 14 clubs). Your other option is a wedge fitting to see if they have adequate gaps and uses.
  8. if it was me I would be looking at the Hybrid vs the 5 iron myself. Of course, this all depends on how ya'll hit each club

I too have 15 in my arsenal but only carry 13 or 14 at a time, depending on the course i play. Usually one of the hybrids or the 5 iron gets pulled from the bag. When walking i only carry 13 clubs and don't experience any significant gaps. Some days i wish i only carried 12 and the putter stayed home but that's an entirely different problem.

I might go another way. Keep the long clubs in the bag. Take the 50 and 54 out and replace them with a 52.

I'd remove the 50 degree wedge depending if you are using AP2, CB, or MB as their PW is 46 and 47 degrees.

Very interesting it looks like the 3 Wood & the 18° Hybrid will be fighting it out.
I definitely agree about the wedges. Apart from Driver there is 3° to 4° between clubs.
  13. I had the same problem, my 3W and I do not get along. I ended up getting a 17 hybrid and haven't looked back. Good luck!

    Interesting. I now have only 13 clubs after regapping the long end of my bag. 9.5 D3 adjusted to 10.25, 16.5 F2, 21* H1, 5 T-MB, 6-P and W 716 AP2, 54* and 60* SM7 plus putter. According to simulators, 16.5 is about 210 carry, 21* is 195, 5 T-MB is 180, 6 is 160, and then about 10 yards gaps through the W.

Personally, I'd set the 3 wood to the higher loft and take out the 18* hybrid. If it makes you feel better about that, you could set the 21* hybrid down to 20.25*.
  17. I always struggled with hitting fairway woods consistently and never liked how I couldn’t shape shots with hybrids so I have settled on a slightly weird set up: driver, 2-P irons with 52,56 & 60 wedge. I haven’t found issues with yardage’s and gained a lot of consistency. I guess I’m trying to say that mix it up and find what works best for you!

Richard A. I think Doug E had touch on a little bit about what type course(s) you play... and that's the same reason I change the club selection I keep in the bag before I go out- it all depends on the course or sometimes just by the length of the course. If I'm playing what I think is a short course for my ability, I will shed off the longer club(s) which I may not need, and vise versa when I think I'm playing a long course- it is usually the loftiest club that goes out.

Thanks for your ideas it’s definitely given me some good options, especially playing around with the hybrid lofts.
I will keeping the wedges in.
