  1. I bought my 718 AP2's last fall. I have played 5 rounds of golf with them, and have practiced at the range about every 2 weeks. When I am on the course I religiously clean my clubs, as well as when I get home, so no dirt rusts them etc. my clubs have next to no damage except a couple of dints from slamming together in my bag, and my one wedge in which a large piece of gravel got caught in between the club and ball (see pic). But I noticed about 6 weeks ago lines at the range on my PW and 8 and 6 iron. The PW was the worst at that point but since then the 8 and 6 have gotten worse. My other clubs and wedges are fine, I don't know why these 3, in particular, are more so, as when I practice off the soft mats I do an equal amount of balls with each club. I have only been on grass tees twice this year and their turf is comprised of soil and fine sand, no heavy particulates at all. So I don't know if I have treated them wrong, or if the range balls are damaging my clubs, or if my clubs are wearing improperly or if there's something wrong with my clubs or??

My wedges see the most action in the sand and dirt so I thought they would wear or show damage or be susceptible to more things, so this is one reason I am scratching my head, that and others. Attached are pics, 1st is my wedges to show how they have faired. second is all my irons and third is a close up of the lines I am talking about from the range. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and Please excuse this if I am way off base.

I have very similar marks on the AP2 part of my set. I hit a lot of range balls at our course and until recently they were pretty dirty and scuffed up. Just opened this year's supply in May

Range balls in general land on a lot of hard surfaces and often times get out back in the dispenser without being washed.

I know some guys who will wipe off every range ball before they hit them-note you often see caddies doing this on the range at tour events--and they are using real tour balls not range rocks. Im pretty sure this is where the guys i see doing it got it from.

The clubs look normal to me for wear and tear, but the conditions you are playing will make a difference. Sandy soil is hard on clubs for minor scratches and dirty range balls will mark clubs more than you might think. Otherwise looks fairly normal to me.
  4. I’ve had my ap2s for a couple months now and they’re starting to show some marks and scratches on the face. I would just be careful when hitting damaged range balls and balls that are near small rocks and pebbles.
  5. Normal wear. Nothing out of the norm at all.
  6. Thats normal wear on the clubs however if you want them to look better soak all of your clubs in pretty warm (not hot) water and mix in with soap. Let them soak for a good hour then take a brush and clean them up. Works for me every time with the grooves and you will look like a real pro :)
  7. Thanks for all your help guys!! And sorry to some out there but the balls here are all washed and clean, so I know in a way it is not them directly like that, but range balls are hard as rocks really. And I do clean them with warm soapy water and a gentle brush I get from Lee Valley, to get the grooves perfect. I just truly love my 718 AP2 irons and so want to keep them looking shiny and new as the day they arrived. Gives me a real sense of pride both within and at the golf course or range. When people look at my bag and whats in it, I want to be able to have them see my Titleist at their best.
Oh and any other tips are greatly appreciated as well too guys, keep em coming!!
