    Hi all,

I am a 25 year old 20 handicapper that picked up this addicting game last year march thanks to my in laws.

As of now few this playing around 18-20 Hcp need we do a few more qualifiers comming weeks. One of the things that has always helped me alot was playing baseball before. So plenty of speed and distance. Just the puts and chips holding me back, werking on them to get my Hcp down. However I am struggleing with an issue regarding my driver.

I am currently playing a 915D2 8.5 70ish g stiff shaft. ( switched out x stiff because of feelings) however after upgrading my former other brand 3wood with a new 13.5 917F2 I feel like my driver is obsolete I pretty much hit them the same distance, whether I hit up or down it might edge the driver +10meters but I feel I can get so much more out of it.

The 917f2 plays the diamant 80ish gram stock shaft, and I hit it 235-245meters. Longest drive I ever hit with the 915D2 was 259meters but usallay 240-250. The fairway wood also seems to have a lot lower/more penetrating ball flight than the driver. Currently looking to upgrade the driver so my bag is all matchy new Titleist gear/headcovers but not sure if the D3 would lower spin/launch enough to match up against the driver.

Thinking about getting a fitting for it but not sure if i should wait for the new 919 series from what i have been hearing it would be a lower spinning than my current/this years model.

Pro is also baffled I have like double the height of flight on my driver than on my 3 wood this ofcourse being a good hit. And tried pretty much anything to lower the flight.

Would the 917D3 with the same diamant white shaft do the trick for the lower flight? Reading the bio of the D2 vs d3 it mentiones slightly lower launch/spin on d3 so any tips/ suggestions or should I just be patient and wait on the new up and comming driver?

    Tips/ideas greatly apreaciated! Thank you

The first knowledge you'll need to know is shaft flex is not a quantified measure. So the more important knowledge is knowing the shaft characteristics. Some bend more at the tip, some more closer to the middle of the shaft. After matching the characteristics for your swing, within that shaft group you would then select flex. The group of us enthusiastic users (not PGA qualified fitters) would only be guessing on a shaft. If you can find a Titleist Premier center (the UK has some for sure), they have the knowledge, testing equipment, and shaft options to find the combination that produces your optimal shot. They should be able to get 15-20 meters more from driver than a 3W. If you look at pro's, even the guys getting 295-300 m can get 280-285 from their 3W.

Thank you for the elaborate reply.
I will get this fitted, however for Premier Center I am a afraid I can’t find one in the Netherlands. Might have to cross the water someday.
