Hey guys, living in PA, unfortunately yesterday i was cleaning my stuff up and getting it all put away until spring. Sad day.

Anyway, i noticed that the chrome on the leading edge of my 9 iron was beginning to chip off. I realize its a club and you hit stuff with it and things happen. These are 718's that i used for 1 season. Im just concerned it may lead to rusting and ruining the rest of the chrome. Should I be worried about that happening? What can be done?

    Thank you in advance.

Talk to titleist reps. They are great and I would think there would be warranty for them being brand new as long as this was due to normal playing circumstances
  3. Can you provide any pictures?

Yeah, thats what I'm hoping one of the titleist ppl on here will help me out. I realize its a small area, and that it does not have any true effect on the performance of the club. I am just worried about the small area spraining and becoming a big area as the club is exposed to the elements of a golf season.

    Hi Eric,
Have your local shop set up a Warranty inspection and as soon as the club is visually inspected by the Warranty department, they will let your shop know what options are available.

Hi Cathi, thank you. If my shop that sold the irons to me is closed for the season and the PGA professional is away at a different club down south for the season, can i go to a different titleist rep or golf retailer?

I don't work for Titelist but I would think any authorized Titleist dealer could set up a warranty inspection, doesn't have to be the one you bought it from.

I noticed the same exact thing on my AP2 pitching wedge over the summer. Almost cut my finger when I caught the sharp edge with it where the chrome plating was missing. Looks a lot like your pic. Unfortunately, my AP2s are 716 model, so I doubt there is any warranty help available. It has not gotten much worse since I noticed it, yet I have probably played 60 or 70 rounds since then, plus many days of practice. I am not too worried about it. It just bothers me to look at. And I have to be careful after every round when I hand clean them, not to rub my finger against the sharp plating edge.

Hi doug, so you haven't noticed it spreading and becoming a problem? I know we take the clubs and hit things with them, i don't expect them to remain perfect. I just don't want the elements of a golf season, water, sand, dirt etc. to cause it to be an issue.

I was able to see my PGA professional and he agreed it needed to be assessed. Sent it to titleist repairs and they put a new head on and returned it, no questions asked! Unbelievable customer service, much appreciated! Was already a Titleist lifer, and this just confirmed my allegiance! Thank you everyone for the advice!
