I see that more golfers start to play a Titleist combo iron set. Amateur and pros as well. Play the AP1 long irons and AP2 since years. Original, 712, 714 and current a 716 AP1/AP2 set. What is your experience?

I have a 714 combo, 37 cavity, 8pitching blade, it feels smooth, I don't feel much difference during the contact, but the golf shots are straighter on the long irons.
  3. I play CB 3-7 and MB 8-pw. MBs are easier to hit than people say. So soft and accurate. Would get The 6 and 7 in MBs if I was buying the same set again.
That being said, I’m debating on going with new T-100s after I saw how thin the top line is.

  4. I tried it with the 718 AP2's in the 3,4 and 5 iron - set the lofts 1* strong on the 3 and 4. Then played the MB's 6-9 iron. I played the 681 blades for over 15 years and just wanted a little thicker sole on the long irons, no problem with distance gaps. I just switched to the T100's 4-P at 2* strong and as tough as it was to depart from the blades, the irons not only hit and play better, but the feel is still there. I prefer the non combo set - pw set at 44* then go vokeys 48/52/56/60 - 4 iron set at 22* so it plays more like a 3-9 set than 4-P. Play whatever set up you like, just make sure you gap correctly (5mph ball speed between clubs) and look into the u500's or ts hybrids as long iron options.

started off early summer with 718 MB 4 - p; since have swapped out 4 iron for CB, thinking of doing same with 5 now...just for that bit of forgiveness...
  6. I play U510 3 iron which is only a couple off days old
Then 4-6 iron in 718 AP3s Bent 2* weak so playing as AP2 lofts.
    Then AP2 7-PW
    All Standard lie
    1/4” longer than standard
Love the look off AP2 in the shorter irons but too thin and too small blade length. But the AP3s look longer in blade length and get the ball higher going into greens and feels very firery which I like in Longer irons and very soft and controllable feel in the AP2s
    Overall very happy
