I got myself fitted today at a Team Titleist location in suburban Chicago, and I learned an awful lot in just one session. For one thing, I learned that my swing needs a lot of work. Additionally, I felt it was time to finally trade in my DCI 981s that I've been swinging for a decade or so. I ended up buying the demo set of AP1s a local retailer had on the wall for a pretty good value, which was made even better since he took my 981s in trade. Just hitting the AP1s at the store, I can't describe how much better they feel than my old clubs. I've had zero confidence standing over an iron for way too long now. My trajectory was high and true, and my natural draw finally started to show up again. It's a shame I live in Chicago and the golf season will be coming to a close very soon, but I'm totally ready to play as much as ever next year. The Team Titleist guy kept putting the AP2s in my hand, but as someone who tends to score in the 80s, I think the AP1s were the way to go. If my game starts to improve, perhaps I'll upgrade to forged irons for even more control.
