I was fit today for a 910 driver but it was a little incomplete.  They only had the 4 standard shafts to try, which is about normal I suppose.  I hit them all well but the best combo I hit was the 8.5 D3 head with the stiff Diamana whiteboard.  It go me out there in the 270 range with average of about 800 RPM draw and backspin in the 3500-4000 range.  Around 95 to 103 MPH head speed and 150ish ball speed.  My major question is should I go to a real Diamana whiteboard and see if it will get the backspin down better than the made for.  Launch was from 17 to 15 degree.  Before I dish out the extra cash for one I wanna know the difference.

Why did they say the spin rate at 3500 to 4000 range is acceptable.  I have talked to many rep including titleist, local shop and ust but did not have anyone said that anything beyond 3000 is ok.  Unless you are not looking at high launch low spin.  Are you sure you are being fitted right?  Just my 2 cents.

Where did you get fit?  That seems like a very high launch and very much backspin for that combo.   I know that the launch monitor at a local retailer where I hit a lot of balls with the titleist 909 fit kit (my own testing, not an actually fitting) showed all my my spin rates in the 3000 to 4500 range.  I knew they were wrong (indicating high) but I used it to compare shafts and pick the one with the lowest spin rate and lowest flight.

When I went to the 910 fitting at TPI, my spin rate with the 909 was in the low 2's and they actually adjusted me up a little with a slightly higher spin rate and got 10 to 15 more yards.  Testing was done into a slight headwind.

As for comparing to the old whiteboard, I believe it is in the 909 fit kit so you might find that kit still available in a local shop.  Perhaps Cathi will chime in with a better answer on that.

I was fit at Edwin Watts is Nashville, its a indoor fitting of course.  The numbers that I gave are not acceptable and they said the backspin was alittle too high. The main problem is that they didnt have any shafts of the 4 standard ones that really fit my swing and numbers so I think I need an upgraded shaft but the problem is that anything I choose I will not be able to try first so all my info has to comes from numbers and looking up shafts online for their characteristics.

I would try to find an actual Titleist advanced fitter. I had a fitting session 3 weeks ago with an Advanced fitter i found on titlest.com and he had every possible combination. I've been to retail fitters prior and all they could tell me was ball speed, max club head speed. Well what I learned was that max club head speed while important isnt everything.. The fitter put me in a heavier, stiffer shaft 1.5 deg more loft and WALA......At the start my energy transfer #'s were low, the heavier shaft decreased my swing speed 6 to 8 mph but my ET # went to near max which added yardage... See an advanced fitter you'll be happy u did.

Great advice guys, I think I will try to go to an advanced fitter though I dont really think there is one close to me in Tennessee.  As far as hitting up on the ball all my approach angles are up on the ball, believe me I have thought of the downward stroke.  I tee the ball with at least half the ball above the face and usually hit dead center on the face.  I was thinking of having to go to a heavier shaft I think I'll try and find a advanced fitter. Thanks guys great club!

It's pretty cool in Tennessee this time of year anyway so don't be in a hurry.  Maybe you can combine two trips to make it worth the roadtrip to wherever the advanced fitter is.  Gettin the right shaft will be worth it in the long run.  I'm not one who thinks everyone needs the full professional fitting.  In fact, when I got fit recently they made very few changes.  But with your numbers, I'd say go for it. --Jerry

yes go with a real diamana and maybe up the weight, 3500-4000 RPMs is way to high. try sweeping the ball more off the tee, sounds like your hitting with a down ward motion. Just my little points hope they help.
