I am looking to buy some new irons. I shoot in the80-85 range and was wondering if the AP 1s would be a good set of irons for me?

Yes, I think you would be please with those irons. They are a little more forgiving than the AP2's, but you are still able to work the ball with them. I just went out yesterday and hit both the AP1's and AP2's and decided on the AP2's, but liked the AP1's a lot also. I would go hit them both and see what you think.

I play from hcp 10, so also around the 80, and I just got fittet for some AP-2's - absolutely a great iron. I just didn't like the look of the AP-1's, and also I was looking for some iron which could give me a little more control.

I would recommend the AP-2's, but again it's all about how you hit them, and there really isn't any way around it, you need to try them both, before deciding.

    Hi Joe,

I would also suggest visiting an authorized Titleist fitter to have them help you get dialed in with the right set of Titleist irons that will be best for your game.  Getting a precision fit will help ensure that your have the appropriate set composition and put you in the best position to help lower your scores. Not to mention, the fitting process is a lot of fun and you'll walk away with a better understanding of your equipment, your swing and your game. Joe,

I was shooting in the 80's and got a set of AP1's and have since lowered my handicap to an 8. I can work the ball with them and love the look and feel. The ideal situation is to get fitted and hit the AP1's and AP2's to see what works best for you.

I didn't get fitted but I knew I needed standard length and lie with stiff shafts based on my previous clubs (DCI gold). You cannot go wrong with Titleist equipment!!
