HI Kathy-  two questions please.  I was wonder if you could tell me what the weight is that comes standard in the bottom of the 910D3  and the Fd is?  I see there is a weight kit for sale and i was curious as what was stock before I consider getting one?

    2.  I was wondering if you could explain what "tipped or tipping" refers to when speaking about a golf clubs shaft etc. ?

    Thanks as always.

The weight that comes in the drivers and fairways is the one that will bring the shaft and head to a D3 +/- 1 swingweight.  In general,  for many of our stock shafts, that would be a 7 gram weight (red).  The weight kit has 5 weights, 2,5,7,9 and 12 and comes with a handy case to hold them.  If you order a "shaft only", you will receive a weight with the shaft and you can request a particular weight if you want to try something different.

When we tip a shaft, we are taking a raw shaft and cutting it at the bottom before we install the adapter and put it in the head.  What that does is firm up the tip of the shaft (slightly).  We tip our standard shafts anywhere from no tip to 1/2" tip.  We will tip up to 1 1/2" upon request.  You can take a look at some examples of what tipping standard and tipping an inch will do for launch and spin.  Stock shafts are in red, stock shafts tipped an inch are in blue and custom shafts are in black.  Keep in mind that all the shafts in a box are similar.  If one is on top or to the right/left of the other, it does not necessarily mean it launches higher/lower or spins more or less.

Cathi-  thanks as always.  How much and where can i get the weight kit, my fear is that my FD is a little to heavy and i might like to try adjusting.  Thanks for the info on "tip" makes total sense.

Cathi-  if the shaft was a smidge heavy for your swing speed could you offset that by lowering the weight in the head.. do those items go hand in hand.  thanks

Hi Keith, if you have a 7 gram weight in your head (red dot), you can exchange it for a 2 gram weight (white dot) and it should lighten it about 2+ swingweights.

Hey Cathi, if you tip a driver a half inch, it still is shipped standard length, correct?  Also, would tipping a shaft a half inch produce any difference.  It looks like tipping most of the shafts (using the chart you posted) would keep it in the same category.  I just ordered a 910D3 with the Ahina 72 tipped a half inch.  Will there be any difference between that and a standard shaft, or did my fitter and I just make changes that wont do anything?

If you ask for a tipping that is not standard, you should specify final length.  Since tipping an Ahina 1/2" is not standard, you would specify final length 45".  In general, tipping your driver shaft 1/2" will stiffen it about a 1/4 flex.

    Hi Cathi.

Where is it possible to get this chart as i've saved it from the attachment here and when i print it out it all blurry.

I cuurently have a prolaunch red shaft and feel it has to much give in it and that it is too light.

I was looking towards the RIP 70.
