    Hi.

I am currently working away in the middle of the North sea and am looking at getting a new driver and as such want to do a bit of reseach in the different club heads and shafts.

I have a average clubhead speed of 107.6mph with an average carry of 263yds. i hit the ball fairly high.

From the limited reading i'm thinking that D3 9.5 degree with a xstiff shaft and low torque shaft would be best, maybe rombax 7V05.

am i on the right way of thinking and what other variations should i be trying out when i get home.

    Thanks in advance

Give the RIP shaft a try.  I have the 910d3 9.5 with a RIP 60X.  My ss is about 112, and it gives me a piercing flight with good roll.

Sounds good. How do you find the amount of torque that shaft has. wasn't sure if i might need the 80X as that has a lower torque. Did you try that or just find that the 60 worked for you?

The torque can be found at the Titleist Custom shaft area. The weight of the shaft is going to affect the feel of the club so it wouldn't necessarily change torque. Keep in mind that if you launch the ball high to find a high kickpoint shaft.

OK. I thought that the 80 shaft had less torque. i knew that it was heavier also. Bit of a novice in the equipment department. I just tend to hit what the pro or rep gives me as long as i like the feel of it.

Trying to educate myself a little bit while i have time on my hands.

sounds like the best thing would just be to go and hit them on the range and find the one that works best.

    Cheers guys

went with D3 with UST Mamiya AXIV Tour red  79 shaft in Extra stiff.

Love it. I know exactly where the clubhead is all the way through the swing and it's made my bad shots not as bad, which was the main thing.

Thank you Titleist what a great product!!!!!!

  7. The RIP 60 is lighter but has the lowest torque 2.9 of any of the other stock shaft options for the 910.  Demo it to see how it feels.  I was leaking right with the Project X and the Diammana.  The RIP is straight with a power draw.
