Is Titleist going to offer Drivers in the future without adjustable hosels? Or are we all going to have to buy one eventually?

Would that be a step backwards?

    Brent,

Great question, my opinion is they are here to stay.  It is great for the local professional fitting someone for the right club and allows you to fine tune your driver as well.  I am a big fan!!!  Only thing I would like to see if the sleeves being offered for sale so you could upgrade some of your old shafts.

I have 3 adjustables. All are in the standard position. I think the only positive for me is that I eventually can swap shafts easily, although Titliest doesn't seem to make that option available. Otherwise, I think adjustables are a net negative. They provide more confusion than benefit to the majority of the golfing community. Most golfers don't really have sufficient consistency in thier swing to accurately evaluate the adjustments.

I will keep and use my 909's and 907's. I will put my 910 D3 and wrench on the shelf.

The fad will pass in time. While swinging, just can't get all the added hardware out of mind. (screws, rachets, weights)

Hey Mike, the inconsistency is why it is good for the amateur. The pros, once it is set it will stay.

The bad thing is eliminating the excuse for having 14 drivers.

    John,

IMO, it's the other way around. Just recently, the guy next to me on the practice range was hitting these awful over the top pull  hooks. He keep grabbing the wrench, adjusting to a more open face. When he finally hit an almost straight shot, the said "Wow, this is awesome!"(Meaning the adjustable head.  In fact, he simply either compensated for his over the top, or has less of it, but it was not the club head adjustment that needed tweaking, it was his swing! Next time out, I'd bet  he'll be hitting big banana balls!

On the other hand, I'm fortunate to watch a lot of pros hit balls. They are able to isolate the variables in their swing, and pretty accurately make equipment adjustments accordingly. If I could have confidence that my swing was the same every time, then I could tweak the club head to compensate. But most amateurs has so much variability in their swings that it's impossible to make intelligent changes to the equipment.

I have had the R9 supertri and now the 910D3 and there is no doubt in my mind that adjustable drivers are here to stay.  Yes they may be confusing to the average golfer but if professionally helped are a great tool and asset.  Also once you have someone show you how to use the adjustments and what they are for, then every golfer out there is going to want to have the flexibility to choose what driver is actually best for them instead of being limited to certain clubs.

Certain clubs like adjustable drivers? I have just heard of people who do not like to look down and see the hosel. I have never had an adjustable club and I know if you are able to get properly fitted they are awesome, If you are good enough.

What percentage of golfers shoot under 100? is the third most asked golf question on Ask.Com. Their answer: Only 5 percent of them will ever break 100, and of that 5 percent only 2 percent of them will ever break 80.

I don't think the amount of adjusting you can do to a head is going to dramatically help these people.

I'd like to think I'm in the top .001 of the world, but I know its not true. Think about it, if you have 1000 people at your club then you are the only one that will ever break 80. If you have 100 people in your club, then you are the only one in 10 clubs that can break 80, and you are 1 of only 5 in your club that can break 100.

Based on my club there are a bunch of clubs that have no one that can break 100.

Did you know 98.6% of statistics are made up, then passed along as being true?

The adjustability is great.  Currently have 910D2, FD and 19 and have found that it brings me to the range more than in the past.  Prior to owning them, I would only show up about 15 minutes before tee time and head for the first tee.  Now I show up early to see what swing is with me today and adjust accordingly for the round. Sometime we adjust others we don't...but it's great to have that option.
