I have the AP2 irons (3-PW) with the AP2 wedge being at 47* and two Vokey wedges of 54* and 60*. I hit my PW around 135yds and my 54* is pushing 105-110yds and i was looking to fill the gap in between my 54* and 47*. it would be ideal for me to have a 60*, 56*, 52* and my AP2 47* but like some of you out there money is always an issue and you cant get squat for used clubs these days so getting two new wedges (and doing away with the 54*) would likely not be an option. i am fine with playing a punch or 3/4 wedge with my 54* but i tend to hook the ball when i do that with my AP2 47* wedge. would you suggest getting my 54* bent to a 53* or 52* and if so how much would that really gain me compared to getting a 52* wedge with a longer shaft.

  2. What about adding the AP2 51 degree gap wedge or switching out your AP2 47 pitching wedge for a 48 degree vokey?

I want to keep my 47* AP2. My options are to bend my 54* or get a 52*

  4. I like Angelo's thinking here.

My suggestion would be to keep in mind where you are most comfortable gap wise and where you typically struggle. Sounds like any difficulties you have come in those stronger lofted wedges.  So the AP2 W might be a nice option and keep your 54 and 60 where they are.

I agree with Angelo and you should introduce the 51 degree wedge if you cannot resolve the pull.  Most likely a simple fix as if you are swinging 3/4 and are pulling the ball your most likely not in sync and are coming through not square anymore as your hands are lagging slightly the turn to much.  I'd assume you have a simular issue with the pitch and run of pulling? it would be interesting to see if your turning over your hands to soon or if your hands are lagging the swing to much.

That's impressive that you can hit your PW 135 yds. That is a pretty big gap between your 54 at 110. I tried lengthening my irons a half inch one time. All I did was hit the ball higher. I believe thatloft is more germane to distance, at least in the higher loft clubs than length of shaft. I measured the difference in length of my 56 vs my 52 and it is only 1/4 inch or less. If money is an issue, I would try bending your 54 to a 52 and maybe bend your 47 to a 48.  But then you will have an 8 degree gap between your bent 52 and your 60. You can always bend them back. As far as hooking your 47 when trying to hit it shorter, I am sure you know that is most likely due to your hips not rotating as fast or as much when compared to your full swing when hitting it 135. Have you tried choking up on the grip of your 47 to hit shorter. Of course your problem is that you have such a big gap between your wedges. I have personally found more that about 4 degree gap requires adjustments on one end or the other.
