  1. So I received these blades as a hand-me-down from a family member about 6-7 years ago and was told that they may not be authentic at the time, but they performed well and looked great, so I kept them. They cannot remember where they got the clubs from.

As of today, I have purchased a slightly more forgiving iron set for myself and am therefore planning on selling the 714's. Before I do that, I wanted to check if they are truly just a very good copy or actually the real deal? There is a 7 digit serial number starting with an '8' on the ferrule of the 6 iron only.

    Many thanks for your help.

Serial numbers are not in a lifelong database. They retain them for a few years to match specs for any warranty issues. There is no longer a place to add your own serial number registration on-line like years past. My advice would be to just be truthful in your sales if asked, telling potential buyers that you are not the original owner, you have every belief that the are authentic, but have no definitive proof. Good luck with your sale and many enjoyable rounds with your replacement clubs.

Agree. If you’ve used them without obvious defect, by now forgeries would have shown to be faulty. 12 year old iron sets won’t be a huge investment. IF I was looking for a set like this, I’d take the chance.
Buying a new set online for $1000 instead of $1600 only to find out once shipped from overseas that they aren’t the real deal with no recourse to return is a much different problem.

You can always check pgavalueguide.com for the value on those clubs. Assuming they are not fake and their average condition, their resale value would be top dollar $225.00.

It’s hard to tell from pictures. If you are really unsure and have doubts give them away to a kid learning to play or donate them to an agency with individuals with disabilities who participate in Special Olympics. I almost always donate my used clubs to individuals with disabilities. Most equipment is really old and doesn’t match so a set like this would be great and really appreciated. You could even look at high schools. A kid less fortunate could really benefit from a matching set. The clubs are not worth a lot being 12 years old. Just another option.
