    Yes. Very much so.

As I lose speed, I couldn’t get enough launch with a TSR-2 and a 50 g shaft. I’m long past the standard retirement age.

Coming off a shoulder injury last year, I was fitted for a GT-1 12 degree driver with a (Speeder) 40 g shaft. With a Pro-V1x ball, I get good results now.

There were 3 options for light weight shafts. Each felt different. Avoid off the rack.

I added about 3 g of lead tape to better feel the head during a swing. Increasing the rear weight was creeping me close to ballooning shots. The tape is on the bottom mid-point.

I may now do better with the 10 degree head. I’m losing roll on dry fairways from the descent angle. I’ve regained the strength I lost from the injury. I’ve dialed the loft back from 13.5 to 11.25 and that is as low as it can be set. Do I wait for “GTS” or save some money with the GT-1 in a lower loft head? The new -1 series won’t likely be launched this spring.

I doubt a GT-2 will help. My TSR-2 even with the Speeder shaft didn’t launch enough, before I resold it recently. If you can’t get to 13-14 degrees of launch, the GT-1 is a serious contender. Especially if your club head speed is under 90.

And my hybrids and fairways are GT-1 and also launch well.

Or anyone with a slower swing speed that needs a light weight head. There are plenty of senior golfers who still rip the driver and plenty of non seniors who could fit nicely into the GT1 with the proper shaft. No better way for someone to know for sure than to get a proper fitting and try multiple heads.
